There isn’t much you can’t do with Alcohol Ink. The more I play the more convinced of that I become.
Making mud is next to impossible, which is a huge advantage. They’re reactive with alcohol or Ranger’s Blending Solution and if you want to see some awesome reactions, spritz a water based product on wet ink or drop the inks on wet or damp water based paint.
Add in Yupo and you’ve got a pair that’s perfect together. Yupo doesn’t buckle when liquid is added, plus it causes the inks to bloom and spread on the surface. It’s one of my favorite surfaces to wor on with the Inks.

Great tutorial, Barb! I’m always looking for new uses for the alcohol inks and mica sprays. Thanks for the inspiration.
You have really come up with some great stuff lately! That sounds wrong – I’m fascinated with countless projects you demonstrate, always learning something. I imagine I am not the only one who is extremely grateful to you for doing these informative videos, either – they are a fantastic asset for any artist to check out. The alcohol ink/waterbased product combinations are unexpected, stunning, and beautifully random. I had put my alcohol inks away recently in favor of some other products, but your recent videos have prompted me to grab them and my Yupo and create like a mad scientist today. Thank you for stirring up all these ideas and firing up my muse – I appreciate the time, effort, and supplies you put into these videos. You know I love Joggles – and the video section you’ve put together just makes Joggles an even more valuable resource. Thank you!!
Your last demo when you dripped the pink alcohol ink reminded me of the hollyhocks in my mother-in-law’s garden! With the technique before, applying alcohol ink from the container through the stencil, have you tried using the felt ink blending tool as a way to apply the ink rather than directly from the container? If I can find my Yupo I feel an experiment coming on!
Always great videos — thanks!
I love your videos! Your economy with words and time are consistent and I will watch your videos knowing you don’t waste my time. You pack a lot of technique in and I love listening to your choice of words. You explain the how’s and whys efficiently while exploring creativity and art. A delightful combination! Thank you for inspiring us and having such a diverse range of products for us to purchase.
