Welcome to Wednesday and our newest MidWeek Muse video!
Today you’ll see me working with a product that I nearly returned, convinced that it wasn’t anything I could use. It sat to one side for a long while I waited to find time to deal with it. Eventually my obstinate nature won out and I brought some into the studio to see what might come of it.
What is it?
Stripey Deli Paper.
Huh? I know, weird.
You’d think Deli Paper is Deli Paper, but it’s actually not. Paper that’s translucent and sheer provides better results than regular old white Deli Paper. With the right kind, the parts of the paper that are uncolored practically vanish into the background when it’s collaged on a surface.
This stripey version appeared when I ordered for the first video a couple of months ago. I took one look and immediately dismissed it as not something I wanted to work with.
It’s funny, I’m not sure I would have thought to try the techniques you’ll see in the video had I not so stubbornly made up my mind to do something, anything, with this paper. I guess that says something about keeping an open mind, right?
