As often is the case, I need to kill two birds with one stone and so today’s prompt is fed by this week’s MidWeek Muse video. Since I can’t let the cat out of the bag and reveal the content of what you’ll see me demo on Wednesday, I’ll just offer up today’s prompt.
Use a face as the focus of your page.
It can be a face you draw as mine is, a copy of a photo, a commercially printed one from a magazine, etc, or whatever you decide. There is this unquenchable thirst for faces and so much concern about doing it “correctly”; getting the features sized and placed correctly, adding hair, hats, and other accessories. And being pleased with the result. That’s a big one. :+)
On Wednesday you’ll see how easy that can be. For today, I’ll just show you a few photos. I chose to make my face the complete emphasis of this week’s page, so there is little in the way of background or other details to distract from it.
This is not the best face, but it was one that fit the page size, so I went with it. You’ll note at the end that it’s not glued down, which was a deliberate decision. I plan to replace it with one I like better so for now she’s a placeholder. I put it down to help determine where to sketch the outline of the box…
Which you see here. I wanted a frame around the face but wanted to leave some border on the page too.
I used one of my Detail Water Brushes filled with an ink spray and scribbled in color around the area where the head will be placed. A quick border with a PITT Pen to further define the edges, and this part was done.
Here she is. Not adhered to the page, but for now an idea of what can be there. Here are a couple of other faces that I like much better, though neither is large enough to fill the area.

Interesting idea of putting a drawing of a face, I will have to practice this one.
