I really like making prints with a Gel Press Plate. Paint, stencils, and other tools come together to create something that stands alone or can be used as part of another project. The printmaking process is fun and easy, and like those chips we all can’t each just one of, it’s hard to stop making prints at just a few.
Stencils are one of my most often used tools when making prints, though there are other options for making marks in the paint, including rubber stamps. The issue with stamps is that the designs are generally smaller than the 8″ x 10″ plate I prefer and it takes a lot of pressing the stamp into the paint then stamping it off elsewhere to either cover the 8″ x 10 surface or a lot of it. It can be done, but I wanted to make the process more streamlined with less applications of the stamp.
Enter our brand new Joggles Creative Art Textures.
Essentially an unmounted rubber stamp measuring 2.25″ x 11″, they have the distinction of being made with a Gel Press Plate in mind. More specifically, the 8″ x 10″ plate and all of the ones that are smaller. I designed the Creative Art Textures so it would take fewer iterations of “press the stamp into the paint, then stamp it off somewhere else” to make marks over the entire surface. I also made sure they were long enough to span the entire 10″ length with enough extra room for you to hold onto them. No more accidently disturbing the texture in the paint with your fingers!
The other important feature of Creative Art Textures is that text and numbers have been placed in such a way that they read correctly when you pull a print. I explain that in today’s video and also will show you how the text will not read correctly is you use one with text or numbers as a stamp. That’s not a bad thing, but is important that you understand. Layers are integral to the projects we all create and having some where the text is mirror imaged can add interest.
This release includes 6 Creative Art Textures and one other item that will only be available for a limited time. We’re bundling the 6 Creative Art Textures with an 8″ x 10″ Gel Press Plate and offering it for $69.70. Once the Every Discount is taken into account (it’s currently 18%), your cost for the bundle is just $57.15, which is an awesome deal!

I’ve wanted a number/letter background stamp for awhile and recently bought one only to find it was for a gel plate and came out backwards. My mistake for not reading your warning. I didn’t want to send it back, so I printed it on deli paper and used gel medium to adhere it to a journal page. It worked like a charm and looks like it’s stamped directly on the page.
That idea could also work if I wanted to stamp mirror images of a face or whatever.
They are awesome.
These are terrific. But I would have preferred that they go completely across the gel plate. The lines left behind by having to raise and replace the stamps kind of bother me.
love love love – 1 of each please 🙂
