I’m always trying to find new ways to work with products and often what I hope to discover is something other than what the manufacturer might intend. That was the case when Sally Lynn MacDonald devised a way to use alcohol inks on a Gel Press Plate. Her work was my inspiration for today’s technique with Easy Marble. Both are solvent based and I figured if it worked with one it should with the other.
Of course you never know till you try and one thing I discovered is that Easy Marble, unlike alcohol ink, stays open long enough that I could print it directly from the plate. Later in the video you’ll see me use acrylic paint to “pick up” the dried (and in some cases not) Easy Marble like Sally Lynn does with alcohol ink. Experimenting sometimes yields fun new techniques and I’m really excited to discover that Easy Marble can be used in this manner.
Know what else is exciting?
Right now we have Easy Marble on a special deal – 50% off the entire color palette. That means you pay just $1.50 per color!

Like it a lot! In the intro, I believe you mentioned alcohol Inks on a gel plate. I am buried in AI’s right now, can you give me a hint on how to use them on a gel plate Please? Also, any news when AI’s will be available again desperate for a few colours. I love Wednesdays and your ideas. Thanks,
.
Alcohol inks on Gel Press was a video. You can see it here:

Mostly they dry really quickly so you have to pick them up rather than print them directly.
No word on the inks availability yet, sorry!
Wow, Barb, the possibilities are endless!!!!! Thank YOU.
Like this idea.
Oddly enough I have to say I like the very first simple print best.
When you first laid color and brayered the paper, it looked like sun on water. So, for anyone wanting a near impressionistic look for a water painting, this would be ideal without any stenciling.
Excellent effort, Barbara, and thanks.
WOW! Great video showing these wonderful new product! Going to order some and try to find my gelli plate!! I really like the patterns you’ve achieved.
This is so awesome, thank you. I recently bought the Easy Marble for my son as we had done some gel prints with acrylic paints which he loved. I thought it be easier to create patterns with the Easy Marble in the water – but now we will be using the gel plate! It will save all the watery mess!
Love it, thanks for the idea!
Fantastic! Your videos always cost me money! Ha!
