To say I’m a fan of Gel Press is… well, a pretty big understatement.
I enjoy working with the various sized and shaped plates and have created some really interesting prints using them. You’ll imagine my delight when I learned about the new Impressables; 7″ x 7″ plates with an embossed design built right into the gel.
Meant to be used both as a static print plate that lays on a surface and a stamp when mounted on an acrylic block, Impressables offer unlimited creative options. The initial release features four designs and in today’s video I’ll show you some interesting options for using them.
Unlike most of the time where I have learned that a thin layer of paint is better, with the Impressables it’s not quite the same and I often find myself applying paint heavier than usual. Once you play with them I think you’ll find that they’re a fabulous tool to have in your studio.

just getting started with my first gel plate and think i am going to really like it a lot. question–what do you clean the plate with?
Baby wipes are good for cleaning the plate. Just plain water with a paper towel also works. If you get a build up of dried paint you can take the plate to the sink and clean it with a little dish soap under warm running water.
What is difference between Gel Press and Gelli plate?
