      Lift-Ink And Gel Press? Yes!
      August 12, 2018

If you asked me where the idea came from to try Tim’s new Lift-Ink on a Gel Press Plate I’m not certain I could pinpoint anything specific.  Inspiration has a funny way of sneaking up on me.  Some of the time ideas pop into my head just before I fall asleep.  Others wake me up in the dead of the night, seemingly coming out of nowhere.

I wasn’t sure how the process would play out, but was very happy with the discoveries I made in the very short time I had to play just prior to filming today’s video.  Brayering Lift-Ink on a plate before adding drops of ink allows them to spread and bloom more like what usually happens on Yupo, with the added bonus of ruffled edges.  That was a very pleasant surprise, trust me.  As was figuring out that if I added a color of ink to the Lift-Ink and brayered that out, it created a tinted base for the other colors to bloom on.  And… created colored ruffles around the bloomed circles.  Ah inspiration… how I love thee!

Making this even better is that we’re still offering 30% off the entire category of Tim’s Alcohol Inks.  That includes the Lift-Ink Pad, the Reinker, all of the ink colors, and the accessories.

Oh my, Lift-Ink marries Alcohol Ink and has ruffled, blooming babies! Thank you for pushing the limits. I wonder what else Lift-Ink affects.

Barb, I love your videos so much as you explain things so well. And I can tell you are very excited about this discovery, too!! Your “store” is awesome and service excellent! Thank you for all your “work” (aka: play) that helps us understand how to use the products and, of course, makes us want to add them to our stashes.

Loved it! Does the type of brayer matter, and do you need to clean the brayer in any special way?

No, it doesn’t matter as far as I can tell. I cleaned the brayer and the Gel Press Plate with 91% alcohol.

Barb, does the paint slide on the Lift-ink. Could you
lift the gel plate up and have the paint run.
It look thick like Vaseline. Does the Lift-ink make the ink flow on the gel press?
      Can you manipulate the ink.

Does this product only work with alcohol ink?

I had only a little time to play the day I filmed the video so I wasn’t able to try making the colors run by lifting the plate itself.
Lift-Ink is not thick like vaseline. It’s almost water-like, but slightly thicker – enough so it can be brayered and not bead up.
You can manipulate the ink to change the shape of the drops.
I haven’t tried it with other products, so can’t say what else it might work with.
