My love of stencils is pretty much an open secret and I suspect that I’m in good company; everyone seems to enjoy using them. While they’re one of the most versatile tools I use, there is something to be said for ones that are sized for a particular project.
In the case of today’s product du jour, size really does matter: ATCs. An Artist Trading Card measures 2.5″ x 3.5″. The scale and proportion of these new Itty Bity Stencils was well thought out, with attention paid to the design elements and how they fit into that specific sized rectangle. There are times when you might want a much larger element on an ATC, one that acts as an eye-catching focal image. For most of the work I do, having an all over design that’s scaled to the correct size is far more important, and that’s where these shine. They were created with this specific use in mind, but…
Interestingly enough, as you’ll see in the video, the Itty Bitty Stencils are suitable for other kinds of projects in addition to an ATC. I use them on a smaller Accordion Book and on Dina Wakley’s Blank Media Tape to create custom washi-style tape. If I’m going to work with a product I like the idea that I can use it in several ways. If I’m going to design one, I definitely want to create one that offers the user multiple use options. Our Itty Bitty Stencils hit that nail right on the head and I’m betting all of you will find other creative ways to utilize them!
