I prefer my supplies be multi-purpose, where I can use them for the intended function, and then discover alternate options that expand the usability of the “thing”, whatever it is.
With the Happy Planner™ Punch I can punch pages to bind in a planner, which is great, but what I discovered is that there are more ways to utilize it. It’s sturdy enough to handle 140# watercolor paper which means I can use punches sheets and use the Happy Planner™ Binding Discs to put them together, creating what is essentially a loose leaf art journal.
Oh happy day! No more running and bleeding of sprays and other color through the center of a signature and onto an already completed page. Boy does that aggravate me. It always seems to happen to a page I’m quite attached to.
Now I can work on a page separately and when I’m finished, punch it and then attach it to the Binding Discs to add it to the journal, and call it done.
Know what else? You can finagle the paper and how you align it in the punch which means you can punch sheets large enough to fit the BIG sized Happy Planner™ and, as you’ll see in the video, punch smaller sheets to make smaller sized notebooks and journals. One more hint of the fun you’ll see in the video… all of the pages you put in a journal or notebook do not have to be the same size and shape. I’ll show you how to cascade Strathmore’s 6″ x 6″ Artist Tiles for an interesting look.
You’ll also see how I make a small journal, measuring 3″ x 6″. The simplest way to make pages for this one? Cut those 6″ x 6″ Artist Tiles in half. One quick slice and you have 2 pages ready to punch and attach to the binding discs.
ADDENDUM: As we received supplies for the video I realized that one of the Happy Planners™ I ordered is an 18 month style, but for the period of time from July 2015 to December this year, 2016. While only the last 6 months of the year are technically useable, there are plenty of ways to cut up and use the previous 12 months. Not to mention cannibalize the entire planner by removing the 6 months left in this year and devote them to something special like a project or wedding. Use the Binding Dics and bind those 6 months separately or add them to an existing planner. There are ample ways to use this planner.
The cover reads “Every Day Is A Gift” and looks like this…
Rather than sell the three we received, I’m going to give them away. To be entered in the drawing just submit an order between July 6, 2016 and 11:59 pm EDT on Sunday July 10, 2016. We’ll pool all of the orders and select the three winners. Good luck!
