Before I get started with the tutorial, if you don’t want to get your hands full of ink, you might want to grab a pair of rubber gloves!

      Here is my process:

      dt-lisa-somerville-11-25-step-1-smoosh-ink

Working on a Non-Stick Craft Sheet, randomly smoosh 3 colors of Distress Ink onto the Gel Press Plate.

      dt-lisa-somerville-11-25-step-2-spritz-ink

Using the Mister, lightly mist the ink.

      dt-lisa-somerville-11-25-step-3-add-stencil

There are number of ways you can use your Joggles Stencils to pull prints from your GelPress Plate, I am going to show you a few ways you can do this. Place your stencil on top of the spritzed GelPress Plate, lightly press down. Remove the wet stencil – DO NOT CLEAN.

      dt-lisa-somerville-11-25-step-4-add-paper

Place Mixed Media Paper over GelPress Paper, lightly press down. You’ll note that I have an additional piece of Mixed Mixed paper under my GelPress Plate, this is so that I can easily center the prints on the Mixed Media Paper.

      dt-lisa-somerville-11-25-step-5-pull-print

Pull the print. Dry with a heat gun, blot with paper towels, or let air dry.

      dt-lisa-somerville-11-25-step-6-place-wet-stencil

To pull additional prints, place the wet stencil on the Mixed Media paper, and press down.

      dt-lisa-somerville-11-25-step-7-pull-print

Lift up and pull print, you can continue to do this until your stencil is clean.

      dt-lisa-somerville-11-25-step-8-place-stencil-on-gel-plate

With your GelPress Plate inked and lightly misted, place the stencil onto of the GelPress Plate.

      dt-lisa-somerville-11-25-step-9-add-paper-over-stencil

Place a sheet of Mixed Media Paper over the stencil, press down firmly.

      dt-lisa-somerville-11-25-step-10-pull-print

      Pull the print, let dry.

      dt-lisa-somerville-11-25-step-11-place-stencil-over-print-and-sponge-color

After your prints are pulled, you can use the Stencils, ink and an Ink Blending Tool to add more interest. Simply place the stencil over the pulled print (be sure it is dry). Then sponge ink over the stencils.

      dt-lisa-somerville-step-12-after-sponge

Remove and clean stencil, please note this is the same technique, just a different Joggles Stencil.

      dt-lisa-somerville-11-25-step-13-view-of-pulled-prints

Here are some of the pulled prints. As you can see you can create many backgrounds with just a few supplies!

      dt-lisa-somerville-11-25-step-14-stamp-images

Stamp the images in Black Archival over your pulled prints. Use as desired, or add color to the prints, as shown below.

      dt-lisa-somerville-11-25-step-15-add-color-with-waterbrush

To add additional color to the prints, you can use a Waterbrush and Distress Ink to paint on additional colors or highlight the images.

      dt-lisa-somerville-11-25-step-16-stamp-on-deli-paper

Stamp your text stamps in Black Archival on the Deli Paper.

      dt-lisa-somerville-11-25-step-18-add-deli-paper-with-matte-medium

Use Matte Medium to apply the stamped Deli Paper to various places on your prints to add interest.

      dt-lisa-somerville-11-26-step-19-add-white-gel-pen

Use a White Gel Pen to add additional interest.

      dt-lisa-somerville-11-25-step-20-add-stenciling-for-more-detail

I wanted to add more interest to the flowers. To do this, I placed the stencil over the flowers then sponged on ink. Remove and clean the stencil.

      dt-lisa-somerville-11-25-step-20-closer-look

Here’s what my stamped pieces looked like following the above steps.

      dt-lisa-somerville-11-25-step-21-use-as-desired

Trim stamped panels, sponge edges with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and use as desired.

      Here are the finished cards.

I hope I’ve inspired you to create art!
