Good Morning, Amy here, and today I’m uber excited to share with you a fun way to use the Joggles Accordion Books by incorporating two Accordion Books into one. My friend has been down lately so I decided to make an Inspirational Quote Accordion Book for her.

      Supply Photo

      Supply List:

      Joggles Accordion Book – 4″ x 6″ – 10 Panels
      Joggles Accordion Book – 3″ x 5″ – 10 Panels
Joggles / Margaret Applin Designs Cling Mounted Rubber Stamp – Bird Collage [56788]
Joggles Cling Mounted Rubber Stamp – Abigail With Goggles & Hat [33665]
      Scor-Tape – 0.25″ [SP202]
      Scor-Tape – 2.5″ [SP206]
Zig Zag 2 Way Glue or Aleene’s Super Thick Tacky Glue
Lindy’s Stamp Gang Moon Shadow Mist – Tawny Turquoise
      Fireworks Summer Sky Mist Spray
Archival Ink Pad – Jet Black
      Archival Ink Pad- Aquamarine
Versafine Archival Ink- Sepia. (Similar to Archival Ink Pad – Sepia)
Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads: Tea Dye, Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain & Broken China
Ranger Inkssentials Mini Ink Blending Tool [40965]
Master Stroke #4 Fan Brush (Similar to Princeton Watercolor Brush – #4 Fan [4350]
      Raffia Ribbon
      Crafter’s Companion Embossing Folder
      Metal Brads/Sliders
Paper Piercer or Tim Holtz/Tonic Studios – Retractable Craft Pick
Die Cuts for embellishments (Spellbinders and Memory Box used here)
      Vintage Button
      Velcro
Quote Sentiment Stamps: Unity Stamp Co., Gina K. Designs, Two Paper Divas, Stampin’ Up!,So Suzy Stamps,  Stamp It Australia and Inkadinkado used here
      Hampton Arts “Birds- SC0648”
      Ribbon
Tags in various shapes and sizes
Strathmore Mixed Media Paper 400 Series (9 x 12 inch)
      Tan Cardstock
      White Cardstock

      Here is my process:

      Photo 2

Start by cutting the 3”x 5” Accordion book.

      Photo 3

I cut mine into two 3 Panel sections and two 2 panel sections.

      Photo 4

Using the Lindy’ Stamp Gang Moon Shadow Mist in Tawny Turquoise and the Fireworks Summer Sky Sprays, give your panel pieces a light coat. Don’t forget to do the back of the panels as well. :o) Set panels aside to dry.

      Photo 5

Using the same mist sprays, give the 4”x 6” Accordion Booklet a good coat. Again, don’t forget to do the back as well. Set aside and let air dry or use your heat tool.

      Photo 6

Cut two pieces of the Strathmore Mixed Media Paper into 3.75”X 5.75”. Add a layer of color with the Tea Dye Distress Ink and Rangers Inkssentials Mini Blending tool.

      Photo 7

Next, add a layer around the edges using the Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

      Photo 8

Finally, add the Walnut Stain Distress Ink along the edges, not bringing the ink as far into the middle as the Vintage Photo. Using a Fan Brush loaded with water, sprinkle droplets onto paper by tapping the brush on your finger over the background to create a distressed/vintage look. Dry with your heat tool.

      Photo 9

Stamp each of the “Bird Collage” and “Abigail with Goggles & Hat” Joggles Cling rubber stamps with Sepia Versafine Ink onto the 3.75”x 5.75” panel pieces and set aside.

      Photo 10

In keeping with the brown/blue color palette, stamp text with the Aquamarine Archival Ink in random spots by rolling the stamp onto your paper.

      Photo 11

Using Walnut Stain and Broken China Distress Inks, randomly stamp bird stamps (Hampton Arts Birds- SC0648 used here) onto your cut 3 x 5 inch panels we put aside in Step 3. Again, be sure to stamp the backside of the panels as well.

      Photo 12

Cut out several different tags/embellishments from a 9 x 12 inch sheet of the Strathmore Mixed Media Paper which has been sprayed with the two mists to keep the color of the project uniform. These will be used to stamp your quotes on before adding them to the book. You can also use ephemera or other embellishments that you already have on hand. Ink the edges of your tags/embellishments with the Broken China Distress Ink. I love the softness that this edging adds to the project.

      Photo 13

Using the 0.25” Scor-Tape, adhere your separate 3 x 5 inch panels and tags/embellishments throughout your 4 x 6 inch Accordion Booklet. Stamp different inspirational quotes onto the different tags and panels using the Jet Black Archival Ink. I used several from Unity Stamp Co, So Suzy Stamps, Inkadinkado, Tim Holtz, Gina K. Designs, Two Paper Divas, Stampin’ Up!, and Stamp It Australia but you can use your favorite Inspirational quotes or type up your favorites on the computer and cut and adhere them to your book. I’ve also attached pretty ribbon in brown and blue to a couple of my smaller tags.

      Photo 14

Using your paper-piercer or craft pick to create the holes, attach brads and metal embellishments to “lock-in” your 3”x 5” pullout panels throughout your accordion booklet. You can see this more clearly in the video which shows the flip-through.

      Photo 15

Wrap the raffia around your front panel and adhere the feather embellishments and vintage buttons using the Zig 2 Way or glue of your choice. Adhere the front panel to the front of the accordion booklet using the 2.5” Scor-Tape.

      Photo 16

Adhere the back panel with the “Abigail In Goggles & Hat ” stamped image to the back cover using the 2.5” Scor-Tape.

      Photo 17

Cut a 1.5” piece of tan cardstock and emboss with a wood grain embossing folder (Crafter’s Companion embossing folder used here). Ink the raised impressions with the Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

      Photo 18

Attach the wood grain embossed piece to the backside of the front cover by adhering with a piece of the Scor-Tape. This will now be wrapped around the book and adhered to the front panel with velcro pieces.

      Photo 19

Stamp the “A Little Birdie Told Me” Sentiment onto white cardstock with the Jet Black Archival Ink. Cut your sentiments into individual words, ink over with Tea Dye Distress Ink, and edge with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Adhere to your front cover panel.

And there we have it… a vintage inspirational quote accordion booklet! I’ve done my very first video to show you the booklet in full, rather than load you with more photos. :o) I hope you like it.

I sure hope I’ve inspired you to try out Joggles Accordion Booklets- there are so many sizes to choose from! Also, don’t forget the fun Cling Stamps that Joggles carries. There is something for everyone and every occasion! Be sure to show us your mixed media makes over at the Joggles Art Adventure FB Group; we’d love to see what you create! Thank you for joining me today, and happy craftin’!

Your idea is fantastic. I love notion of ‘continued’ inspiration with both sides of the booklet decorated.

So much attention to detail and love put into this accordion book! The antique/aged brown and soft blue are beautiful as is the bird theme throughout. Your sentiments are all lovely. Anyone would be lucky to receive such a thoughtful gift! Thank you for sharing this with us all. It has really inspired me. I’ve never seen those metal embellishments that twist to “hold” the pages in place – are those a type of brad or…?

Thank you so much Cherie! 🙂

The enclosures are a brad with the little metal closure you stick the brad thru. I got them in a metal embellishment set from We R Memory Keepers. Hope that helps. xx
