If you can believe it, 8 weeks (give or take) have passed since the 6 new colors of Dylusions Paint were introduced in late August. With the initial craziness behind us I figured it was time to play a bit. In today’s video you’ll see me work with the new colors and several techniques.
One of my favorites is to apply color with my fingers, which you’ll see as I create a background, plus my trusty 8″ x 10″ Gel Press Plate makes an appearance with a couple of fun color combinations.
The other technique is one I stumbled on by mistake – aren’t the best ideas usually born that way? I discovered that using a Mini Ink Blending Tool and twisting it to apply paint through the openings of a stencil (that has really small openings) can result in a round pattern. That’ll make far more sense when you see it, honest!
If you’ve been on the fence about investing in the new colors I can tell you I’m glad I brought them home and experimented a bit. If you love color like me, I think you’ll find that the new ones round out the palette, allowing you the freedom to create new favorite combinations. My favorite is Periwinkle Blue and Laidback Lilac. If you’d told me 8 weeks ago I’d be reaching for laidback Lilac I would have nodded my head in agreement, but Periwinkle Blue? Not so much. I’d have never imagine myself reaching for it… but have discovered I do. Which only proves how subjective color choices are and that a name doesn’t automatically convey how you’ll feel about working with one in particular.
And, just to add to your reasons for investing in the colors, they’re on sale for 25% off until this Friday, October 27th, at 11:59 pm EDT. Enjoy!
