I enjoy creating books of all kinds. Today I’ll show you two options that use simple 5″ x 7″ mounting boards as the front and back covers. The boards are inexpensive and the books easy to put together, so I hope you’ll join me in making them.
The first style uses gel medium, thickly applied through a stencil, as a resist and Inka Gold to add shimmery color to the uncovered areas. Add in some dots made with Enamel Accents, and you have a fabulously patterned and textured set of covers.
The second book features the Japanese Stab Stitch Binding with scrapbook papered covers. In this book the binding really stands out because of the way it’s stitched. What’s even more interesting are the fibers I use to complete the Japanese Stab Stitch. Oliver Twists One Offs are hand dyed assortments of cotton and rayon, meant for all kinds of embroidery, though they’re fabulous in this application too.
