I continue to explore ways to work with Gel Press Plates and stencils; it’s really become something of a passion though I don’t get to play as much as I would like. There are endless possibilities, so my fascination seems unlikely to end anytime soon.
In today’s video I’m “creating a scene” by placing the Flora & Fronds Masks on plates to create a landscape or vignette. I actually did this the first time several weeks ago and printed a page in my AJA journal. Once the paint was dry I used a black PITT pen to doodle around the fronds and in the open areas. You’ll see that in the video too along with lots of examples of ways to utilize the Flora & Fronds masks to create a scene. If you scroll down the page you’ll find a photo of that page from my AJA journal – it’s right under the supply list.
Supplies For This Video:
Joggles 6″ x 9″ Flora & Fronds Stencils
Strathmore 5″ x 8″Mixed Media Paper Pad
See what I mean about the doodles? They really change the look of the print.

I absolutely love the idea of outlining and tangling over one’s gelli print! I have done some doodling before, however, I don’t think, I have included tangles, to fill in space around the focal points. What beautiful pieces you made with this technique! Thanks again, Barb.
Thank you for sharing. Your instructions were clear and helpful. You might be inspiring me to try a gelli plate.
