Tunnel Books fascinate me. I don’t know if it’s the illusion of peering down into the depths of a book or just the novelty of having openings in the page, but I love them. I’d previously made a couple where I’d cut the openings by hand, or with a circle cutter, and was really pleased with the results.
Enter our nifty laser into my creative world and the realization that I could create books with tunnels of varying shapes, and my muse was off and running. The book you see in today’s video is particularly timely since it’s filled with autumn and Halloween themed imagery and quotes. I love the mice peeping from inside of the pumpkins and especially the one where a mouse is looking down at a sleeping cat. If I’m gonna have mice in the house, this is my preference!
The book in the video measures 6″ x 6″ and features a solid front and back cover. There are 6 pages inside, with circular openings that descend in size from 4 1/2″ in diameter to 2″.
On the left is what you see when you open the front cover and peer into the tunnel of an unfinished book and on the right is a peek inside of my finished Autumn Tidings one.
The creative possibilities for these books is limitless. They can be anything you wish; just add paint and images and you’re on the way!
I have created an Autumn Tidings Tunnel Book Kit that includes one of the bare chipboard books and the book rings, plus 6 pages of collage sheets; 5 that are images and the other is the quotes. Click here to see the book kit.
As you’ll see at the end of the video, there are two other Tunnel Books debuting today. One is also 6″ x 6″ and features a square tunnel and the other is 6″ x 9″ and has a rectangular tunnel. More and more creative options!

OMG this is just awesome! Wonderful ideas again Barb.
Thanks Faye! It was fun…
I love the final book, Barb! I had started a tunnel book a couple of years ago but it sat in a 12 x 12 scrapbook storage box until recently. I pulled it out and finished it. It’s on my flickr site if you’d like to take a look – http://www.flickr.com/photos/theartfuldoodler/
