The 2017 Art Journal Adventure – Week 29
      July 17, 2017

Week 29 finds me once again in a hotel room, this time in Salt Lake City.  Unlike previous pages created while out of town I have little to no supplies available since most of them have been shipped in and are at the convention center.  That dearth forced me into figuring out what I could do with the little I have here in the room: stencils, 3 jars of Finnabair’s Art Alchemy Sparks Paint, PITT Pens, and some Mini Ink Blending Tools.

Since I’m deep in work mode and have a metric boatload of things to do, I started a list and then it occurred to me that could be Week 29’s prompt.  Bullet Journaling is huge right now and a lot of that is list making.  If it’s good enough for a Bujo, it’ll fabulous for my AJA page.

So your Week 29 prompt: feature a list or lists on your page.

Mine is pretty spare given that I have little to nothing to work with.  Don’t feel as though yours needs to be.

Stencils are part of what I brought in my suitcases and have in the room, along with those three bottles of paint.  This one is our new 6″ x 9″ style named Floral Stack.

I’m using a large zip top freezer bag as a kind of nonstick surface and have placed the stencil on my watercolor paper.  The three bottles of paint I have are all the new Art Alchemy Sparks; Butterfly Spells, Fairy Wings, and Mermaid Sparkle.  That’s a little Fairy Sparkle loaded on just the edge of a Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool.  Once I have the paint on the foam I mushed it around on the plastic bag to spread the paint on the foam.

You can see I applied the green Fairy Wings to the stem and the base of each of the flowers.  Once it was dry I loaded a tiny amount of Butterfly Spells on the opposite side of the Mini Ink Blending Tool, smooshed it around on the plastic bag to spread the color out, then applied it to the flower petals parts of the stencil.

Color applied and dry, so now it’s time for a little pen work…

Ordinarily I’d use an XS, extra super fine black PITT Pen, but for some reason I didn’t bring one so am working with an S superfine tipped one and am using a light touch.

Finished the pen work around the petals and decided to add a sketchy border too.  I like it.

And here’s a part of my to do list for the next few days.  It’s never boring in my world!

Now that’s a pretty list. You just are the best doodler around. Just adding a little adds a lot of interest. This made me think………I’m going to take all of my old Weekly/Month/Planners to stencil in and add doodles as well as the current one on my desk.
Thanks, as always, for such loveliness. Hope you have a good convention.

Thanks Mary! I like your idea about adding doodles to your planners. May as well mix your media there too!

Thanks… and if not just do it, then just do your best with what you have!

Thanks! Those three dots are kind of my signature thing. I agree, they make a big difference. :+)

Intend to forget about doodling in favor of stickles, but it really does add that last bit of finish. I think I need to start remembering to do a little of it

Your list is elegant! Mine tend to be slapdash and barely legible. And considering the paucity of supplies you had available, I think youndid a wonderful job. Now, I almost never travel with stencils but I nearly always have a selection of gel pens in the bottom of my purse.

Thanks for the prompt, this will be fun.

I do enjoy the challenge of limited supplies, while in a hotel. While on a plane, I love to have my Zig watercolor brushes, a waterbrush, a journal, and a couple of Pitt pens. Where there is a will to make art, there’s always a way! Hope you get some sightseeing in, while away. Love how you made tour list. Nice stencil, lf course.

The beginning of your project with the multi colored leaves are just beautiful …so soft and lovely.

      Barb,
What a gorgeous page – and with very few supplies! Hope you have a grand time and a successful trip at the convention!

Maybe if my to-do list was that compelling, I would pay more attention to it! Love your posts!

I think this is pretty cool, Barb. Love the colors and I actually LOVE your writing. Very European looking and scripty… wish we had a stamp that looked like that. I would use it all the time. I like this very, very much. Great job with very little to work with.
