{"id":7041,"date":"2017-10-09T07:55:07","date_gmt":"2017-10-09T11:55:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/?p=7041"},"modified":"2017-10-15T12:30:35","modified_gmt":"2017-10-15T16:30:35","slug":"2017-art-journal-adventure-week-41","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/2017-art-journal-adventure-week-41\/","title":{"rendered":"The 2017 Art Journal Adventure &#8211; Week 41"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Give that it&#8217;s pushing mid-October I decided it was time to throw &#8220;Halloween&#8221; out there as this week&#8217;s prompt.\u00a0 Interpret it how you will &#8211; this one is about as wide open as it gets.\u00a0 I decided to pull out some of the new collage sheets and use them as a starting point&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-1.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-JSV5yZMD\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7046\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I often turn to them when I need inspiration.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t always use imagery from the sheets, but they help get the ideas moving.\u00a0 These are the Halloween themed ones that debuted a couple of weeks ago.\u00a0 Click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/art-journals-and-mixed-media\/joggles-collage-sheets?sort=d_desc\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> to see them.\u00a0 I did end up using images from the ones named <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/art-journals-and-mixed-media\/joggles-collage-sheets\/joggles-collage-sheets-monster-mash-1-jg401208.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Monster Mash 1<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/art-journals-and-mixed-media\/joggles-collage-sheets\/joggles-collage-sheets-monster-mash-2-jg401211.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Monster Mash 2<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-2.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-JSV5yZMD\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7043\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"910\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With that decided it was time to add some color to the page background. This is one of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/paint-dye-and-ink\/finnabair-art-alchemy\" target=\"_blank\">Finnabair&#8217;s Art Alchemy Sparks Paint<\/a> named <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/paint-dye-and-ink\/finnabair-art-alchemy\/finnabair-art-alchemy-acrylic-paint-sparks-fairy-wings.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Fairy Wings<\/a>.\u00a0 A couple of dabs on my surface and a couple of spritzes of water&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-3.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-JSV5yZMD\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7044\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"933\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And then\u00a0I spread it out using a palette knife.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-4.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-JSV5yZMD\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7045\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"887\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I pressed the paper into the paint puddles and lifted straight up.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-5.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-JSV5yZMD\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7049\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"919\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Repeat using the color named Iris Potion&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-6.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-JSV5yZMD\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7050\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"911\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And end up with this.\u00a0 Maybe a little too busy?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-7.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-JSV5yZMD\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7047\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"854\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Add a layer of white gesso and that calms it down enough that the figures don&#8217;t get lost in the background.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-8.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-JSV5yZMD\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7048\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"904\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then things got a little dimensional when I decided to use one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/embellishments-of-all-kinds\/art-glitter-and-accessories\/art-glitter-elements\" target=\"_blank\">Art Glitter Elements<\/a> named <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/embellishments-of-all-kinds\/art-glitter-and-accessories\/art-glitter-elements\/art-glitter-elements-sediment.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Sediment<\/a>.\u00a0 Elements are meant to resemble earth textures.\u00a0 The addition of a bit of glitter makes them even better.\u00a0 The process here was to use our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/stencils\/joggles-9-inch-x-12-inch-stencils-and-masks\/joggles-stencils-bubble-blast-10-33795.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Bubble Blast Stencil<\/a> and apply <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/paint-dye-and-ink\/dina-wakley-media\/dina-wakley-media-brushes-mediums-fine-tip-applicators\/dina-wakley-media-gel-medium-2oz-tube.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Gel Medium<\/a> through the openings.\u00a0 It&#8217;s heavy enough to securely adhere the larger pieces in the Elements and between the two, there&#8217;s a ton of cool texture.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-9.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-JSV5yZMD\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7051\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"902\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yup, I like the way this looks, but the figures look a little lonely&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-10.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-JSV5yZMD\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7052\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-10.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"867\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So I cut some triangle shapes from black cardstock.\u00a0 This was the first trial layout.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-11.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-JSV5yZMD\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7053\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-11.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"933\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Though this is the one I settled on.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-12.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-JSV5yZMD\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7054\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-12.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"924\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Rather than leave them plain, I used Gelly Roll Pens to add some doodles.\u00a0 The figures are a bit serious looking and I wanted to add a touch of whimsy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-13.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-JSV5yZMD\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7055\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/2017-aja-week41-13.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"908\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And here&#8217;s the finished page.\u00a0 It&#8217;s Halloween without the usual combination of black and
