If you think “fine art” when you hear “watercolor”, today’s video will dispel the notion that only fine artists use them successfully.\u00a0 While I’m not a fine artist and don’t use watercolors in the same way as someone who is, I love the results I get working in my own mixed-media-play way.<\/p>\n
If just one thing sticks in your head (kind of like an earworm… I digress) I hope it’s “the color will follow the water”.\u00a0 That’s my mantra\u00a0when I use watercolors and am almost always really happy with the results when I let the water guide the color.<\/p>\n
Prima’s line of watercolor sets, their awesome papers, cards, and other bits, are today’s MidWeek Muse topic.\u00a0 One thing worth noting, and you’ll hear me mention it a couple of times, is that the because each of the paper products have been printed on watercolor paper, the paints work beautifully.\u00a0 You can use them on other papers for sure, but not with the same promise of success that’s inherent to working on watercolor paper.<\/p>\n
The other thing you’ll see me using is Pentel’s Aquash Brushes.\u00a0 I’m a huge fan of Tim Holtz’s Detail Waterbrush, but when I work with a\u00a0water brush and watercolors, I want one that most closely resembles a regular watercolor brush.\u00a0 For me, that’s the Aquash Brushes.<\/p>\n
