Week 11"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to Week 11 of the 2017 AJA!\u00a0 Hard to believe we&#8217;re here as it feels like just a\u00a0short time\u00a0ago that Bonnie and I were creating out covers, but time waits for no art journaler.<\/p>\n<p>Your Week 11 prompt?\u00a0 Use a silhouette.\u00a0 Simple, but the options are mostly endless.\u00a0 As you&#8217;ll see, I chose a traditional profile, but you could\u00a0use an entire figure.\u00a0 Or you can elect to use a silhouette that isn&#8217;t a head or body.\u00a0\u00a0 I chose to make my traditional profile black, the traditional color of a silhouette.\u00a0 That&#8217;s about as traditional as this gets however&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-0.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-9MFrYxxb\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5512\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-0.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"832\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is the silhouette I&#8217;m working with.\u00a0 I like the open area and plan to use it&#8230; somehow.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve cut it out and will trace around it, but before I do that I want to get the background in place.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-1.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-9MFrYxxb\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5514\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve used the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/paint-dye-and-ink\/pebeo-studio-acrylic-paint\" target=\"_blank\">Pebeo Iridescent Acrylics<\/a> in a lot of ways, but till now had now applied them to a background with my fingers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-2.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-9MFrYxxb\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5513\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"813\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A little on my fingers, smudged and smooshed around.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-3.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-9MFrYxxb\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5518\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"814\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finished with the paint, but it needs something else.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-4.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-9MFrYxxb\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5519\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"778\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So I got out one of my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/paint-dye-and-ink\/lindys-stamp-gang-two-toned-starburst-sprays\" target=\"_blank\">Lindy&#8217;s Starburst Sprays<\/a> and spritzed some on the background.\u00a0 The silhouette is there only to keep the center of the page mostly color-free.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-5.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-9MFrYxxb\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5517\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"781\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The background is still not making me happy.\u00a0 I grabbed a cap and dunked it in pink paint to add the circles.\u00a0 Still not doing it for me&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-6.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-9MFrYxxb\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5523\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"766\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So I used a larger cap and black to add more circles.\u00a0 I also thinned some of the paint and spattered it to create the small black droplets.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-7.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-9MFrYxxb\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5524\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One of my favorite stencils in our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/stencils\/joggles-9-inch-x-12-inch-stencils-and-masks\/joggles-stencils-dotted-grid-10-33727.htm\" target=\"_blank\">9&#8243; x 12&#8243; Dotted Grid<\/a>.\u00a0 It&#8217;s simple, but I like the effect I get with black paint, so I added some of both sizes of the dots.\u00a0 Still feeling like something is missing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-7-2.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-9MFrYxxb\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5522\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-7-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"761\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So I used some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/art-journals-and-mixed-media\/pebeo-decomarkers\" target=\"_blank\">Pebeo decoMarkers<\/a> to embellish the dots.\u00a0 Getting better, I think.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-8.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-9MFrYxxb\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5526\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"933\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Time to get the silhouette on the page.\u00a0 I used a hard leaded pencil (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/art-journals-and-mixed-media\/drawing-pencils-erasers-templates\/staedtler-mars-lumograph-pencil-5h.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Mars Lumograph 5H<\/a>) and traced around the cutout.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-9.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-9MFrYxxb\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5527\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"773\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And painted it black.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-10.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-9MFrYxxb\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5525\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-10.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"760\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To delineate the shape inside of the silhouette\u00a0I used a white Pebeo decoMarker and dotted the perimeter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-11.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-9MFrYxxb\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5529\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-11.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"778\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I was still not liking the background so added the border.\u00a0 Ick.\u00a0 Not at all what I had in mind and now I really am not happy with it, but this is a bridge too far and there&#8217;s no way to go back.\u00a0 Added the white dots in the squares in the hopes that would help me like it more.\u00a0 Nope.\u00a0 (note to self: quit while you&#8217;re ahead)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-12.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-9MFrYxxb\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5528\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2017-aja-week-11-12.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"767\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I added the stitching around the perimeter of the silhouette, which I like.\u00a0 Not that it makes up for that damn border!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to Week 11 of the 2017 AJA!\u00a0 Hard to believe we&#8217;re here as it feels like just a\u00a0short time\u00a0ago that Bonnie and I were creating out covers, but time waits for no art journaler.
