Working with a Gel Press Plate is an exercise in pattern, color, and texture and always a\u00a0wildly enjoyable experience.\u00a0 There are seemingly endless variations of techniques and processes, each more exciting than the last.\u00a0 An afternoon spent making prints yields all kinds of painty goodness.<\/p>\n
In general I tend to think of a print made this way as a step in the overall creation process since I don’t generally frame my finished pieces.\u00a0 I’ve torn strips and collaged them on a surface, used them as the base for a journal page, punched shapes from them with hand punches, and I know lots of folks die cut them.<\/p>\n
But what happens if instead of creating a large piece that’s cut down, I used smaller shaped prints as building blocks?\u00a0 And what happens if I divide those “building blocks” into smaller shapes and recombine them?\u00a0 And then I added color and pattern into the mix?<\/p>\n
That’s a lot of questions and in today’s video you’ll see answers to them.\u00a0 I’ll show you how to use the Gel Press Petites shapes to make larger patterned prints and how to cut out prints of the individual shapes, cut them again, and recombine them for a whole new look.\u00a0 The pieces can be used on journal pages, on cards, as part of larger mixed media pieces, on scrapbook layouts… you name it, and they’re more than likely to mesh pretty well.<\/p>\n
