Faces.\u00a0 Beautiful, ethereal faces.<\/p>\n
Faces.\u00a0 Vexing at times.\u00a0 They can be frustrating to draw and create.<\/p>\n
There is a road map to\u00a0the face.\u00a0 An arrangement of proportion and position that can make or break the outcome.\u00a0 The eyes are halfway down the length of the head.\u00a0 The space between the eyes is about one eye width.\u00a0 The nose falls about halfway between the center of the eyes and the chin.\u00a0 The eyelids cover the top of the iris.<\/p>\n
It goes on and on.\u00a0 And while all of that is important to drawing a lovely, realistic face it’s no small amount of information to keep in mind.\u00a0 And this is before you even put pencil to paper!<\/p>\n
We all love seeing a beautiful faces as part of a journal page, canvas, or mixed media piece.\u00a0 The challenge has always been to adhere to the road map and master the actual drawing of the head, ears, neck, and the features.<\/p>\n
Until now.<\/p>\n
Margaret Applin has designed a set of stencils that simplifies all of the layout, sizing, and proportion of creating beautiful faces.\u00a0 We named it The Fearless Face Stencil System and it will be your conduit to creating those lovely, ethereal faces you’ve admired for so long.<\/p>\n
The beauty of this system?\u00a0 It will help you create a range of faces from graphic to realistic, depending on what media you use.\u00a0 And how much detail and shading you decide to add.<\/p>\n
Included are two basic face shapes, round and square, plus 6 different sets of facial features.\u00a0 There are 3 hair styles, plus a braid and pony tail, 5 hats, 2 crowns, and 2 headbands.\u00a0 And eyeglasses.\u00a0 The system will allow you to draw faces in three sizes.\u00a0 The smallest measures about 2″ x 3″. The medium is about 2.5″ x 4.5″, and the largest measures about 3.5″ x 5.5″.\u00a0 Those dimensions measure from the top of the cranium to the bottom of the neck.\u00a0 Hair, headbands, and hats will add additional height,<\/p>\n
In today’s video I will walk you through the basics of using the stencils.\u00a0 I’m working simply in pencil, but will provide pointers on shading and adding highlights.\u00a0 I’ll give you enough information this time to get you well on the way to creating beautiful faces and you’re going to love the process.<\/p>\n
