My page this week is meant to span Week 41 (October 10) and Week 42 (October 17).\u00a0 I decided to make the prompt “A Doodle A Day – 9 Days A Week”.\u00a0 That will make more sense as you look at how I blocked off the daily areas on my page…<\/p>\n

It’s been a few weeks since one of my pages had a border, so I figured it was time to bring\u00a0it back.\u00a0 I wanted something narrow and penciled in one around the perimeter of the page.<\/p>\n

I taped off the center seam so the black paint wouldn’t creep onto the next page.\u00a0 I like Dylusions Paint<\/a>\u00a0because it dries to a smooth, matte finish that accepts pen work, spray inks, and just about anything else I throw at it.<\/p>\n

Once the black paint dried I used a red marker and added some details; dash marks around two sides and dots around the others.<\/p>\n

I could have divided the page into 7 sections, one for each day of the next week, but decided that 9 was easier since I didn’t have to think of a creative way to make those 7 sections.\u00a0 (Yup, I’m lazy some of the time!)<\/p>\n

Since I’m doodling, once each day of the week and then a couple of other times, I figured doodling the dividers made sense.\u00a0 I’m using a Superfine Black PITT Pen<\/a>.\u00a0 You’ll see that I’ve added white dots to the dashed lines in the border.\u00a0 I felt as though it was a little boring and too dark.\u00a0 That was done with a Sharpie Water Based Paint Pen<\/a> in the Extra Fine<\/a> thickness.<\/p>\n

\"2016-aja-week-41-6\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Since I have 9 blocks to\u00a0work with, and since I created the page on Sunday, I went ahead and doodled in the first one at that time.\u00a0 I also changed the border again, this time altering the shape so it bulged in places.<\/p>\n

I’d like to say that was a creative option, but it wasn’t.\u00a0 The big blob at the top was a doodle that went awry.\u00a0 Terribly awry, with the best option to cover it completely.\u00a0 Of course then the dilemma became how to integrate\u00a0a blob\u00a0into the design without it looking like an eyesore.\u00a0 I added an additional bulge along the left side and used a white pen to dot them both, which helps tie them together and tie them with the other white dotted parts of the border.\u00a0 As I go along I think I’ll add more bulges to make it look less like an afterthought.\u00a0 Or that I was covering a mistake.<\/p>\n

The real question is if I’ll be able to squeeze in one doodle a day.\u00a0 We shall see how it goes!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
