Week 36"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Unlike several of the last few weeks I knew exactly what I wanted to do for this page spread.\u00a0 The prompt was going to be &#8220;green&#8221; and I had this idea already blossoming in my head about how I wanted to proceed.<\/p>\n<p>What I didn&#8217;t count on was the very first thing I added to the\u00a0spread being the very thing that veered me right off the prompt.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-1.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-swrqCIGg\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3737\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-1.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-36-1\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/stencils\/joggles-stencils-and-masks\/joggles-stencils-bubble-blast-10-33795.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Bubbles Blast Stencil<\/a>, or rather than negative of it, since I sprayed through the openings on another project and then printed what was left on the surface of the stencil on the left side of the spread.\u00a0 I used one of the green <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/paint-dye-and-ink\/lindys-stamp-gang-two-toned-starburst-sprays\" target=\"_blank\">Lindy&#8217;s Starburst Sprays<\/a>.\u00a0 What&#8217;s quite obvious is that what I printed is not entirely green.<\/p>\n<p>While I love the combination, and even where the colors mixed, I didn&#8217;t get all green.\u00a0 With the original prompt completely screwed it was time to punt (football seasons is nearly upon us.\u00a0 Expect more football to art analogies as the season unfolds.\u00a0 I digress) and figure out what this could become.\u00a0 The original idea included some scribbled circles with text stamped inside, so with that in mind I figured the new prompt could be something about shapes.\u00a0 Then I played a little more and it was cemented in my head&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>And with that I give you this week&#8217;s prompt: Choose\u00a0a geometric shape and use it repeatedly on your page or spread.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-2.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-swrqCIGg\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3738\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-2.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-36-2\" width=\"700\" height=\"424\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the spread after I repeated the &#8220;print the negative of the stencil&#8221; step.\u00a0 The green you see is large bubble wrap (not the size of the piece of bubble wrap, the size of the bubbles themselves) that I dipped into green paint, then printed on the page.\u00a0 More circles.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-3.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-swrqCIGg\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3739\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-3.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-36-3\" width=\"700\" height=\"524\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To create even more of them, I used the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/tools-and-supplies\/miscellaneous-supplies\/pickett-template-1201i-giant-circles.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Pickett Giant Circles Template <\/a>and traced a bunch of sizes on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/paint-dye-and-ink\/canvases-and-artist-quality-papers\/artist-quality-papers\/canson-watercolor-paper-9-inch-x-12-inch-90-cold-pressed.htm\" target=\"_blank\">90# watercolor paper<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-4.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-swrqCIGg\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3740\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-4.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-36-4\" width=\"700\" height=\"490\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To get text inside of the circles I use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/rubber-stamps\/joggles-margaret-applin-designs-cling-mounted-rubber-stamps\/joggles-margaret-applin-designs-cling-mounted-rubber-stamp-vintage-correspondence-56776.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Margaret&#8217;s Vintage Correspondence stamp<\/a> (mounted on a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/art-journals-and-mixed-media\/joggles-clear-acrylic-stamp-mounts\/joggles-clear-acrylic-stamp-mount-4-inch-x-4-inch-57681.htm\" target=\"_blank\"> 4&#8243; x 4&#8243; Clear Acrylic Stamp Mount<\/a>) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/art-journals-and-mixed-media\/ink-pads\/stazon-ink-pads\/stazon-ink-pad-jet-black.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Black StazOn Ink<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-5.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-swrqCIGg\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3741\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-5.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-36-5\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here are the mostly finished circles.\u00a0 Before I stamped the text\u00a0I used a black Watercolor Pencil and scribbled around the\u00a0circumference of the shape, right over the light pencil lines.\u00a0 After I&#8217;d stamped the text I used a wet brush to activate the watercolor pigment and spread it in\u00a0a rough shape of the circle.\u00a0 (Precision is unimportant to me.\u00a0 If you prefer it, take your time and spread the color more carefully)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-6.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-swrqCIGg\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3742\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-6.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-36-6\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>More of the Starburst Sprays.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-7.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-swrqCIGg\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3743\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-7.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-36-7\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once I cut out the circles I decided they needed more texture.\u00a0 Pictured here is what they looked like once I used <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/paint-dye-and-ink\/daler-rowney-fw-acrylic-inks\/daler-rowney-fw-acrylic-ink-pearlescent-black.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Black FW Pearlescent Ink<\/a> and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/tools-and-supplies\/brushes-brushes-brushes\/princeton-watercolor-brush-4-fan-4350.htm\" target=\"_blank\">#4 Fan Brush<\/a> to spatter it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-8.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-swrqCIGg\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3744\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-8.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-36-8\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tentative placement.\u00a0 Getting there, but this is not looking finished yet.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-9.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-swrqCIGg\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3745\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-9.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-36-9\" width=\"700\" height=\"523\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I pulled out a sheet of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/art-journals-and-mixed-media\/joggles-sticky-snippets\/joggles-sticky-snippets-medium-circles-57740.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Medium Circles Sticky Snippets\u2122<\/a> that I&#8217;d previously colored.\u00a0 They measure 1.5&#8243; in diameter, so the size works with what I already have.\u00a0 Once they were stuck to the surface I used a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/art-journals-and-mixed-media\/drawing-pencils-erasers-templates\/primo-euro-charcoal-pencil-3b.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Charcoal Pencil<\/a> to create a black outline, then I smudged\u00a0each to soften the appearance.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-10.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-swrqCIGg\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3746\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-10.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-36-10\" width=\"700\" height=\"408\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another possible placement of the larger circles.\u00a0 Getting closer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-11.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-swrqCIGg\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3747\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-11.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-36-11\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But still not quite there yet, so I pulled out my bag of self-adhesive glitter strips.\u00a0 I make them from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/art-journals-and-mixed-media\/scor-tape\/scor-tape-2-5-inch-sp206.htm\" target=\"_blank\">2.5&#8243; Scor Tape<\/a> by cutting a length and then dumping <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/embellishments-of-all-kinds\/elizabeth-craft-designs-silk-microfine-glitter\" target=\"_blank\">glitter<\/a> on the sticky side.\u00a0 I use more than one color to get some interesting mixes and combinations.\u00a0 Once they&#8217;re done they can be punched or die cut to almost any shape.\u00a0 I tend to make circles which I&#8217;m sure\u00a0comes as no great surprise to many of you.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-12.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-swrqCIGg\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3733\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-12.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-36-12\" width=\"700\" height=\"443\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is the final arrangement.\u00a0 The glitter circles (of many different sizes) are in place as are the larger circles with text.\u00a0 The round shapes that look like water drops were made with Ice Resin.\u00a0 An explanation\/demo for that process will come at a later time.<\/p>\n<p>To further continue the &#8220;use your shape repeatedly&#8221; prompt, I used a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/art-journals-and-mixed-media\/faber-castell-pitt-pens\/faber-castell-pitt-artist-pen-s-super-fine-tip-black.htm\" target=\"_blank\">black PITT Superfine Pen<\/a> to dot around the circle shapes in the background.\u00a0 These are the original shapes made from printing the Bubble Blast Stencil.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-13.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-swrqCIGg\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3734\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-13.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-36-13\" width=\"700\" height=\"632\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Details, details.\u00a0 The dots made with the PITT Pen are easier to see in this close up.\u00a0 You can also see the pseudo-text around the large pink circle with stamped text and the actual scribbled text I put around the Sticky Snippets\u2122.\u00a0 I used the Charcoal Pencil around the Ice Resin too.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-14.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-swrqCIGg\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3735\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/2016-aja-week-36-14.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-36-14\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Little drops of Ice Resin on the Sticky Snippet\u2122 and little 1\/4&#8243;
