This week I had a prompt in mind, but no image in my head of what I wanted the page to look like other than I wanted a circle.\u00a0 The prompt is “outward from the center” which doesn’t necessarily limit itself to something circular.\u00a0 You could move outward from the center of a line or other geometric shape.\u00a0 You could move outward from the center of the page.<\/p>\n

Anyway… this page was alternately frustrating and mostly ok as I stepped through the process of completing it.<\/p>\n

Is it what I had in mind?\u00a0 Nope.<\/p>\n

Will I come back to it at some point?\u00a0 Maybe.\u00a0 The question becomes what to do with it.\u00a0 The idea was so nebulous I’m not sure what it’s supposed to look like, which makes it kind of difficult to add to or change it.<\/p>\n

I give you… outward from the center.<\/p>\n

Dylusions Paint<\/a>:\u00a0White Linen<\/a>, Pure Sunshine<\/a>, and Funky Fuchsia<\/a> on a baby wipe.<\/p>\n

The background after a couple of applications of color.\u00a0 Also not what I had in mind.\u00a0 Gesso<\/a> makes things better…<\/p>\n

\"2016-aja-week-35-3\"<\/a><\/p>\n

So I scraped some on the page using a palette knife<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"2016-aja-week-35-4\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I want circles for the movement to spring form the center of so decided to use the 3″ circle Gel Press Plate that is included in the Petites Set A<\/a>.\u00a0 I’m using the same Dylusions Paint.\u00a0 The 3″ Round Plate is mounted on our 4″ x 4″ Clear Acrylic Mount<\/a>, which allows me to use it like a stamp.<\/p>\n

I put the Bubble Blast stencil<\/a> over the paint and pressed paper towel through the opening.\u00a0 That lifts color in the pattern of the stencil and the texture from the paper towel is impressed in the paint.\u00a0 Kind of a two for the effort of one thing.<\/p>\n

Adding a layer of Distress Crayon <\/a>and smudging with my finger.<\/p>\n

\"2016-aja-week-35-7\"<\/a><\/p>\n

More Distress Crayon layers.<\/p>\n

\"2016-aja-week-35-8\"<\/a><\/p>\n

White Linen thinned with a little water to make lines radiating outward from the center.\u00a0 The ones under that which are just the Distress Crayon were done with plain water.\u00a0 I used the water to move the Crayon – they’re reactive till they dry.<\/p>\n

\"2016-aja-week-35-9\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Another group of rays, this time with Funky Fuchsia.<\/p>\n

\"2016-aja-week-35-10\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Yet another layer.\u00a0 I brought out Lumiere Halo Pink Gold<\/a>, which was a perfect complement to the colors I began with.\u00a0 It was thinned a little with water too.<\/p>\n

There are a couple of steps shown here.\u00a0 After the Lumiere, I puled out the Daler Rowney Hot Mama Red Pearlescent Ink<\/a>, added a little water, and then added another layer of rays.\u00a0 Then I decided the page needed a little kick of… something.\u00a0 I mixed some Black Pearlescent Ink<\/a> with the Hot Mama Red and Halo Pink Gold Lumiere, then spattered it with a Princeton #4 Fan Brush<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Added more layers of Hot Mama Red and Halo Pink Gold to push the spatters to the background a bit.<\/p>\n

\"2016-aja-week-35-13\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Use a Black Sharpie Extra Fine Point Water Based Marker<\/a> and\u00a0drew more rays.<\/p>\n

\"2016-aja-week-35-14\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Then grabbed the White Medium Water Based Marker<\/a> and added some white spokes from the center.\u00a0 I went back to the Extra Fine Black Sharpie and added a bunch of dots around the centers and radiating outward from them.\u00a0 And called it done!<\/p>\n
