Week 34"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Because I&#8217;m working on several projects I&#8217;ll be demoing at a trade show in a couple of months, my workbench is pretty well covered with supplies other than what I would usually reach for when working in my AJA journal.<\/p>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t want to have to do anything more than push some stuff out of the way to work on this week&#8217;s page, which is why you&#8217;ll see the occasional stray item in a photo.\u00a0 I had no idea what I was going to create, and since my brain was consumed with the show projects, I knew I needed to find something reasonably simple.<\/p>\n<p>A slight rewind&#8230; on Friday when I left the warehouse a packet of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/art-journals-and-mixed-media\/joggles-collage-sheets?sort=d_desc\" target=\"_blank\">new collage sheets<\/a> managed to fall into my backpack.\u00a0 No idea how that happened&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Once I got home I tossed\u00a0them on my workbench and then pushed them to the side so I could work on other things.\u00a0 On Sunday, as I was considering what today&#8217;s page would be it occurred to me that if I could use what was right in front of me things would be way simpler.\u00a0 After thinking about it, I realized the collage sheets were nearly right in front of me, if you consider buried under a pile of unrelated supplies\u00a0&#8220;right in front of me&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>So there you go, today&#8217;s prompt:\u00a0 use what&#8217;s in front of you.<\/p>\n<p>Never one to look a gift page idea in the mouth, I dug out the collage sheets, chose one I wanted to work with and was off creating today&#8217;s page.\u00a0 I let the colors of the imagery dictate the background colors, though I have no idea what prompted the&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/2016-aja-week-34-1.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-zDnYQy56\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3599\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/2016-aja-week-34-1.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-34-1\" width=\"700\" height=\"614\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;idea to make the images stand in an oval.\u00a0 Rather than overthink it I grabbed a pencil and sketched in an oval.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/2016-aja-week-34-2.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-zDnYQy56\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/2016-aja-week-34-2.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-34-2\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Grabbed some baby wipes and began applying color.\u00a0 Dylusions <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/paint-dye-and-ink\/dylusions-paint-by-dyan-reaveley\/dylusions-paint-postbox-red.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Postbox Red Paint<\/a>\u00a0for the center of the oval.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/2016-aja-week-34-3.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-zDnYQy56\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3601\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/2016-aja-week-34-3.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-34-3\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And roughly filled in the what I&#8217;d sketched.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/2016-aja-week-34-4.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-zDnYQy56\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3602\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/2016-aja-week-34-4.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-34-4\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I knew exactly how I wanted the page to look, so didn&#8217;t even have to think about what to do next&#8230; add a border using the new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/paint-dye-and-ink\/dylusions-paint-by-dyan-reaveley\/dylusions-paint-slate-grey.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Slate Grey<\/a> color.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/2016-aja-week-34-5.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-zDnYQy56\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3603\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/2016-aja-week-34-5.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-34-5\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then fill in the remainder with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/paint-dye-and-ink\/dylusions-paint-by-dyan-reaveley\/dylusions-paint-black-marble.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Black Marble<\/a>.\u00a0 I like this look, but it&#8217;s a little too loose at this point.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/2016-aja-week-34-6.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-zDnYQy56\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3604\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/2016-aja-week-34-6.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-34-6\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ordinarily I don&#8217;t write on my pages. I&#8217;m not a diarist and never feel compelled to\u00a0commit what&#8217;s on my mind to a page.\u00a0 I did decide to write because I like the look, though what&#8217;s here is utter nonsense, beginning with &#8220;the rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain.&#8221;\u00a0 That was followed by scraps of nursery rhymes and song lyrics.<\/p>\n<p>This is better, but I still felt like the ovals were not looking quite like what I had in mind, so I used the same Sharpie Paint Pen and scribbled around the black background and the grey border, more or less firming up the definition between them.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/2016-aja-week-34-7.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-zDnYQy56\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3596\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/2016-aja-week-34-7.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-34-7\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I liked that, so decided to do the same thing to create more visual separation between the red oval and that grey border.\u00a0 I added some small dots around the circumference of the grey border, which livened it up a bit.\u00a0 (Do ovals have a circumference??\u00a0 Ah, the things I wonder)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/2016-aja-week-34-8.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-zDnYQy56\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3597\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/2016-aja-week-34-8.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-34-8\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The collage sheet I decided to use was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/art-journals-and-mixed-media\/joggles-collage-sheets\/joggles-collage-sheets-masquerade-iii-jg401130.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Masquerade III.<\/a>\u00a0 Here&#8217;s one of the characters in a test placement.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/art-journals-and-mixed-media\/joggles-collage-sheets\/joggles-collage-sheets-masquerade-i-jg401122.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Masquerade I<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/art-journals-and-mixed-media\/joggles-collage-sheets\/joggles-collage-sheets-masquerade-ii-jg401126.htm\" target=\"_blank\">II<\/a> are similar, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/art-journals-and-mixed-media\/joggles-collage-sheets\/joggles-collage-sheets-masquerade-iv-minis-jg401132.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Masquerade IV<\/a> was smaller versions of all 6 characters.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/2016-aja-week-34-9.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-zDnYQy56\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3598\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/2016-aja-week-34-9.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-34-9\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And here they both are glued in place.\u00a0 This page is not my usual style, for a number of reasons, but I like it regardless of its outlier status.\u00a0 Who knows, maybe my style will expand to encompass more work like this!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Because I&#8217;m working on several projects I&#8217;ll be demoing at a trade show in a couple of months, my workbench is pretty well covered with supplies other than what I would usually reach for when working in my AJA journal.
