Hi and thanks for stopping by the Joggles blog. It’s\u00a0Frezja<\/a>\u00a0here today, featuring some of the fabulous Joggles\/Virginia England Cling Mounted Rubber Stamps which I love! These stamps are wonderful designs which I find suit so many different projects. This time, I will show you how I used one of them in the foreground and another as part of the background design.<\/p>\n

Strathmore 300 Series Watercolor Paper – 9 x 12 inch 140# Cold Pressed – 10 Sheets<\/a><\/p>\n

Aleene’s Super Thick Tacky Glue – 4 oz. jar<\/a><\/p>\n

Other: doilies; water, scissors; glue; gems or pearls; scraps of designer paper and white paper; cardboard scrap; paint brush; trim or fibres; washi tape; black pen; Inkssentials NonStick Craft Sheet; stamp block\/mount<\/p>\n

Here is my process:<\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a><\/p>\n

Using Memento Luxe Espresso Truffle Ink, stamp Joggles\/ Virginia England Cling Mounted Rubber Stamp – Funky Flower #5 onto a piece of watercolor paper.<\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a><\/p>\n

Once the ink is thoroughly dry, color the flower using Distress Inks and a wet brush. You can either stamp a block of color directly from one pad at a time onto your Inkssentials NonStick craft sheet\u00a0or onto an acrylic stamp block. Spritz a small amount of water next to the ink and then pick up the water and some of the color with a small paint brush to apply to the image. The more water you use, the lighter the color will be.<\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a><\/p>\n

Cut a piece of watercolor paper to fit your art journal. Adhere a paper doily to the background and then a piece of recycled cardboard which is slightly smaller than the piece we cut with the image on it. Aleene’s Super Thick Tacky Glue works well for this. The cardboard will add dimension to the image by popping it up.<\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a><\/p>\n

After darkening the edges of the stamped rectangle with Tea Dye Distress Ink, adhere the image over the cardboard with Aleene’s Super Thick Tacky Glue.<\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a><\/p>\n

Add torn scraps of patterned and white paper around the image, tucking some under the doily and adding others on top to create texture and depth with your layers. Fill in as much as you like while still allowing the original background to show through in spots.<\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a><\/p>\n

For a touch of romance, add a few sections of die cut or punched borders both on the background and across the bottom of the stamped rectangle.<\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a><\/p>\n

Apply more of the Tea Dye Distress Ink direct to paper by dragging the pad lightly over the edges and several spots on the layers just added. This will age and distress the background as well as emphasize the layers. Some papers will absorb more of the ink than others which creates an interesting play of light and dark.<\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a><\/p>\n

To add more detail and texture to the background, apply the Memento Luxe Espresso Truffle Ink to parts of the Joggles\/Virginia England Cling Mounted Rubber Stamp – Funky Flower #9. You are not looking for solid clear images but rather partial ones. By rolling the stamp onto the background or only inking part of the stamp each time, you can create additional markings to add to your other layers.<\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a><\/p>\n

To add further interest and break up\u00a0the background a little, I added uncolored Medium and Mini \u00a0Sticky Snippets Circles \u00a0to the layers. I like the way the white shapes contrast with the distressed background and I know that if I want to add color later on, they will take it beautifully.<\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a><\/p>\n

The word Flower was created using sticker letters and the word memories was a printed sticker from my stash.<\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a><\/p>\n

I also fussy cut some pieces from the Joggles Washi Collage Sheet which I combined with some bird washi tape from my stash.<\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a><\/p>\n

At this point, I embellished the page with some trim, charms, gems, and pearls. A few brads, a chipboard “Love”, and a metal paper clip were also added to the page along with a little writing with a black pen and a doodled border done with the charcoal pencil. To finish it off, I added a little more Worn Lipstick Distress Ink to the background by stamping it on my NonStick craft sheet, adding water, and then using my brush to dab it on in places, This helped tie the image into the background since the color was repeated in both places.<\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a><\/p>\n

Here is a close-up of the focal image so you can see some of the detail including a border around the image itself done with a black pen.<\/p>\n
