Welcome to Wednesday and our newest MidWeek Muse video where I’m indulging my love of creating journals from the ground up, coloring and embellishing numbers (who knew, but I confess to really enjoying it!), and glitter.<\/p>\n
Let me introduce you to my Doodle Numbers Journal, a project that began with the idea of making a larger format journal, and quickly turned into something of an obsession, with a multitude of them scattered about my studio along with bottles of Stickles and our 8″ chipboard numbers (more about those numbers in a moment).<\/p>\n
This project didn’t start with the idea that I was going to give in and indulge my love of all things sparkly, it just kind of happened as part of the creative process. Here’s the thing about glitter however: it’s optional. If you don’t love it, then leave it out and I promise your version will be just as wonderful.<\/p>\n
The project really began with the idea of using large sheets of watercolor paper to create a journal. I used Strathmore’s 300 series 140# watercolor paper that measures 18″ x 24″ and is bound into a spiral pad. The beauty of those large sheets is they can be cut to create a wide range of larger format journals. I explain that in the video and show you how I set up the one that became my Doodle Number Journal, plus several others that I created along the way. You could leave the paper uncut and make a journal with pages measuring 18″ tall by 12″ wide, if you want. Think of how incredibly cool that would be!<\/p>\n
