After spending two weeks doodling like a crazy person, and knowing I wanted this week to be less labor intensive, I decided to go with a full spread, but to keep it relatively simple for Week 25.<\/p>\n

Sue, who is a marvelous friend and creative person, sent me a couple of photos of what she was doing with the new Jurassic Leaves\u2122 stamps and immediately inspired me to work with them.\u00a0 But what to do with them and how would it work for those of you who do not have the stamps?\u00a0 Those were the two pressing questions.<\/p>\n

What seemed sensible, given my choice of colors for the leaves (that are anything but leaf-like), was to make today’s prompt to use fantasy colors for an object or objects.\u00a0 In my case, the three Jurassic Leaves\u2122 are definitely fantasy colors and are enhanced with Stickles<\/a>Stickles<\/a>.\u00a0 Because if you’re going to have a fantasy leaf, it ought to glimmer and sparkle.<\/p>\n

\"aja-week-25-1\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I began by stamping Jurassic Leaves\u2122 numbers 2, 3, and 5 on 90# Watercolor Paper<\/a>.\u00a0 Since I’m going to put wet colors on top, I used black StazOn ink <\/a>which is permanent once dry.\u00a0 Click here<\/a> to see Jurassic Leaves\u2122 #1, here<\/a> to see Jurassic Leaves\u2122 #2, here<\/a> for Jurassic Leaves\u2122 #3, here<\/a> to see Jurassic Leaves\u2122 #4, here<\/a> for Jurassic Leaves\u2122 #5, and here<\/a> to see Jurassic Leaves\u2122 #6.<\/p>\n

Once they were stamped I dumped out all of my Detail Water Brushes<\/a> that are filled with various ink sprays.\u00a0 Color really is my thing, so this is always a fun part.<\/p>\n

With the leaves colored, it was time to choose colors for the background of the spread.\u00a0 I decided on Dylusions Black Marble <\/a>and Pomegranate Seed<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It’s easy to get that haphazard look using a baby wipe.<\/p>\n

As light and pomegranate seed-y as this looks now, it’s about to change…<\/p>\n

\"aja-week-25-5\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I added Black Marble in the same way as Pomegranate Seed, using a baby wipe.\u00a0 Because I had a bunch of paint on my work table I picked it up on the baby wipe and dabbed it over the entire spread.\u00a0 I’m liking this, but am about to make a mistake.\u00a0 Ugh…<\/p>\n

\"aja-week-25-6\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Yuck.\u00a0 No really.\u00a0 Yuck times two.\u00a0 Glimmer is always a good thing, unless the colors are a horror together as these ended up being.\u00a0 Back to my stash of Lindy’s Starburst Sprays to choose a better color, but before I spray another drop I need to kill that awful gold.\u00a0 Out comes the Black Marble and I dab it all over the place, coving most of the gold.\u00a0 Then a little more Pomegranate Seed to bring back the pink color…<\/p>\n

\"aja-week-25-7\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Ah yes.\u00a0 Better.\u00a0 I used Lindy’s\u00a0Autumn Maple Crimson Starburst Spray<\/a> and our Bubble Blast Stencil<\/a>, spritzing through the openings to begin with, then flipping the stencil over and printing the color that was on top.\u00a0 MUCH better!<\/p>\n

\"aja-week-25-8\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Next up were Sticky Snippets\u2122<\/a> because I needed something on the page besides the Jurassic Leaves\u2122.\u00a0 These are the Large Starburst <\/a>style that I had previously covered using Magenta’s Nuance Dye Powders<\/a>.\u00a0 Since black was never going to contrast enough with the background to show, I used\u00a0the Pink\u00a0Sharpie from the set of three metallic colors.\u00a0 Click here<\/a> to see that set.\u00a0 I like the pink messy borders.<\/p>\n

\"aja-week-25-10\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The background seemed a little to open, so I made some big black dots using the Mini Inkssentials Blending Tool <\/a>and Black Marble Dylusions Paint.\u00a0 Tap a little of the paint on the Blending Tool, then smoosh it around on your palette pad or nonstick surface to get the paint evenly spread over the foam.\u00a0 Place the tool where you want the dot, press lightly and twist at the time.\u00a0 Hmmn.\u00a0 Still needs something, so out came the Pink Metallic Sharpie again and I dotted around all of the black dots.<\/p>\n

Adhere the Jurassic Leaves\u2122 in place, dot around them with the\u00a0Pink Metallic Sharpie,\u00a0and this week is done!<\/p>\n
