Hello, it’s Frezja<\/a> here. \u00a0I’m excited to show you my new ATC series featuring images from one of the many Joggles Collage Sheets.
\nI never do just one ATC at a time because I love creating a\u00a0series and when I have everything out, it’s easy to do several at once. This set is themed … monsters.<\/p>\n

Joggles Collage Sheets – The Oddfellows [JG401009]<\/a>
\nJoggles Stencils – Ancient Ruins<\/a>
\nTim Holtz Distress Ink Pad – Old Paper<\/a>
\nTim Holtz Distress Ink Pad – Black Soot<\/a>
\nAdirondack Color Wash – Meadow<\/a>
\nAdirondack Color Wash – Butterscotch<\/a>
\nAdirondack Color Wash – Sunset Orange
\n<\/a>Strathmore 300 Series Watercolor Paper – 9 x 12 inch 140 # Cold Pressed
\n<\/a>Ranger Texture Paste
\n<\/a>Dina Wakley Media Palette Knife
\n<\/a>Inkssentials Mini Mister
\n<\/a>Black gel pen or Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pen – (F) Fine Tip – Black
\n<\/a>Primo Euro Charcoal Pencil 3B
\n<\/a>Other: water, \u00a0scissors, glue.<\/p>\n

Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a><\/p>\n

From one sheet of 9 x 12 inch 140# watercolor paper, cut 4 ATC (artist trading card) backgrounds at \u00a02.5 x 3.5 inches which is the standard size for all ATCs. I kept the extra piece left from the ATCs and did the same background on it so that I could use it for a later project. It’s always wonderful to have backgrounds ready to go when you need a quick project. Place the cut pieces back together,\u00a0as shown in the photo above, and lay Joggles Ancient Ruins Stencil over all. Scrape Ranger Texture Paste through the openings of the stencil with a palette knife. You are not looking for solid coverage but want to add dimension randomly on each ATC.<\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a><\/p>\n

When the Texture Paste is dry, again place the \u00a0Ancient Ruins stencil over the backgrounds. Don’t worry about lining up the stencil with the Texture Paste. Spray Adirondack Color Wash – Meadow, heavier in some places and lighter in others for a more interesting effect. Remove the stencil and flip the inky side over onto a journal page, deli paper, or another sheet of watercolor paper to give you a head start for a later project. There’s no point in wasting all that yummy color.<\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a><\/p>\n

Once you have removed the stencil, \u00a0using an Inkssentials \u00a0Mini Mister, spritz water onto the ATC backgrounds right over the Adirondack Color Wash. Dry the excess water with a paper towel. This gives a watercolor effect to the stencilling and blurs the lines in a pretty way. You can also create drips and runs by tilting the cards in different directions if you wish.<\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a><\/p>\n

Add drips and drops of Adirondack Color Wash – Butterscotch and Adirondack Color Wash – Sunset Orange to the backgrounds, either by spritzing the colors onto a craft sheet and spattering them with a fan brush or by removing the top of the sprays and using the tube to drip color onto the backgrounds. Again, tilting the cards will help create drips and runs.<\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a><\/p>\n

Using background stamps of your choice (check out the Joggles Background Noise cling rubber stamps<\/a>), \u00a0add Tim Holtz Old Paper and Black Soot Distress Ink, \u00a0stamping randomly here and there until you are happy with the texture and pattern.<\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a><\/p>\n

Cut out elements from The Oddfellows collage sheet and glue each one onto a thoroughly dry background. Glues like Aleene’s Original<\/a> or Super Thick Tacky Glue<\/a> work well for this.<\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a><\/p>\n

From your computer, print off the wording you want onto white cardstock or printer paper. I chose a sentence which I then cut into fragments. Each fragment was adhered to a separate ATC, varying the placement. These phrases work well when the ATCs are viewed individually and also when viewed together as a group.<\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a><\/p>\n

Use a black gel or Pitt Artist pen to doodle a frame around the edges of each ATC and also outline around the text to highlight it.<\/p>\n

\"VLUU<\/a>
\nUsing a charcoal pencil, lightly outline on the background the edges of each image, smudging with your finger or a paper stump to create shading\/depth and help the image stand out. It also embeds the image into the background taking away that “stuck on” look.<\/p>\n
