I like to experiment with products, using them in ways that are not necessarily what they’re intended for.\u00a0 Mostly because I’m curious about these things, but also because I like the idea of getting more mileage out of my stuff.<\/p>\n
The Alcohol Ink techniques I demo in today’s video fall into that “not necessarily intended to be used in this manner” category.\u00a0 Glossy and non-porous surfaces are the usual ones for the inks and I’ve filmed videos about using them on those types of surfaces.<\/p>\n
What if I told you there is a way to use Alcohol Inks on paper?\u00a0 And that, if you use enough of them, you can achieve some interesting patterning and results?\u00a0 If this piques your interest as it did mine, I think you’re going to enjoy the techniques you’ll see in today’s video.\u00a0 I’ll use Strathmore’s 6″ x 6″ Bristol Artist Tiles, though you can use most any paper with enough body.\u00a0 Thin printer paper is unlikely to give good results, so stay away from it.\u00a0 I suspect the techniques will work equally as well on watercolor paper as they do on the Bristol stock.\u00a0 The key is using enough of the colors to create a puddle.\u00a0 You’ll see what I mean when you view the video.\u00a0 It’s not difficult at all and the results are pretty cool.<\/p>\n
