2016 Art Journal Adventure &#8211; Week 23"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(I bit off more than I could chew, metaphorically speaking, when I decided to create this page.\u00a0 Though it&#8217;s only a\u00a0one\u00a0and not a spread, there&#8217;s a lot of real estate to fill with doodles.\u00a0 Which is why this page will span 2 weeks.\u00a0 With all of my other responsibilities I was unable to complete it.\u00a0 With that in mind, make yours simpler if you would like or be an overachiever like me and go for ample details.\u00a0 Next Monday, the 13th, you&#8217;ll see the page finished.\u00a0 I hope)<\/p>\n<p>Inspiration comes from many places.\u00a0 Some of the time an idea just pops into my head, seemingly\u00a0out of nowhere.\u00a0\u00a0Or I may be browsing the net and see a journal page or something else\u00a0that triggers an idea.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s came about after I saw a journal page with a couple of meaningful words surrounded by doodles.\u00a0 Lots of doodles that filled all of the negative space.\u00a0 A simple idea that can be interpreted in any number of ways.\u00a0 My choice for the words are &#8220;be brave&#8221;, which is where the page began&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/aja-week-23-2.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2749\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-ZaCUDsW1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2749\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/aja-week-23-2.jpg\" alt=\"aja-week-23-2\" width=\"700\" height=\"466\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There are two lines that divide the page in quarters and I centered the words around them.\u00a0 For preliminary sketches like this, I prefer a hard lead pencil.\u00a0 Sharpen one and it will make thin, faint lines if you use a light touch when sketching, plus it will erase pretty easily.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/aja-week-23-3.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2750\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-ZaCUDsW1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2750\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/aja-week-23-3.jpg\" alt=\"aja-week-23-3\" width=\"700\" height=\"501\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I used\u00a0a black <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/rubber-stamps-and-paper-art-supplies\/faber-castell-pitt-pens\/faber-castell-pitt-artist-pen-f-fine-tip-black.htm\" target=\"_blank\">PITT Pen, the &#8220;F&#8221; &#8211; fine tip<\/a>, to line the letters, then erased the pencil lines.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/aja-week-23-1.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2752\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-ZaCUDsW1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2752\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/aja-week-23-1.jpg\" alt=\"aja-week-23-1\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Unlike the majority of the doodles I draw, I decided I had to use some of the new colors of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/rubber-stamps-and-paper-art-supplies\/faber-castell-pitt-pens?sort=d_desc\" target=\"_blank\">PITT Superfine Pens<\/a>.\u00a0 They&#8217;ll be accent colors since I&#8217;m not abandoning black entirely of course.\u00a0 (Not in this lifetime.\u00a0 I adore the graphic look of black doodles.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/aja-week-23-4.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2753\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-ZaCUDsW1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2753\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/aja-week-23-4.jpg\" alt=\"aja-week-23-4\" width=\"700\" height=\"504\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I penciled in a circle, then another smaller one inside &#8211;\u00a0I use them as\u00a0guidelines &#8211; and then added petals.\u00a0 This pretty grey-blue color is named <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/rubber-stamps-and-paper-art-supplies\/faber-castell-pitt-pens\/faber-castell-pitt-artist-pen-s-super-fine-tip-indanthrene-blue.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Indanthrene Blue<\/a>.\u00a0 When I want to make circles, I use a template.\u00a0 I have them in three sizes and they make the kind of circles\/flowers\/mandalas I make much easier.\u00a0 See the Giant Circles by href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/tools-and-supplies\/miscellaneous-supplies\/pickett-template-1203i-small-circles.htm\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/aja-week-23-5.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2754\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-ZaCUDsW1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2754\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/aja-week-23-5.jpg\" alt=\"aja-week-23-5\" width=\"700\" height=\"474\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Progress, though I have a tendency to jump around before I finish one section&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/aja-week-23-5b.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2755\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-ZaCUDsW1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2755\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/aja-week-23-5b.jpg\" alt=\"aja-week-23-5b\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s more color here, but you&#8217;ll have to look closely to see it.\u00a0 Up in the section where the long section is you&#8217;ll see hash marks made with color.\u00a0 I used <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/rubber-stamps-and-paper-art-supplies\/faber-castell-pitt-pens\/faber-castell-pitt-artist-pen-s-super-fine-tip-indanthrene-blue.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Indanthrene Blue<\/a>\u00a0again, plus <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/rubber-stamps-and-paper-art-supplies\/faber-castell-pitt-pens\/faber-castell-pitt-artist-pen-s-super-fine-tip-phthalo-blue.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Phthalo Blue<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/rubber-stamps-and-paper-art-supplies\/faber-castell-pitt-pens\/faber-castell-pitt-artist-pen-s-super-fine-tip-cobalt-green.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Cobalt Green<\/a> (that looks more like turquoise), and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/rubber-stamps-and-paper-art-supplies\/faber-castell-pitt-pens\/faber-castell-pitt-artist-pen-s-super-fine-tip-may-green.htm\" target=\"_blank\">May Green<\/a>.\u00a0 You&#8217;ll see those four colors again as I decided to limit what I used to the cool ones.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/aja-week-23-6.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2757\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-ZaCUDsW1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" together!\u00a0 The long wavy section under the word BRAVE is a continuation of the section above the word BE.\u00a0 I&#8217;m liking this.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/aja-week-23-11.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2764\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-ZaCUDsW1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2764\"
