Week 21"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The prompt for Week 21 was going to be &#8220;pick a color and have it be predominant on your page&#8221;.\u00a0 Going in I knew I wanted\u00a0mine to be green, which is how I started, but my muse decided that as wonderful as the various greens I used were, something was missing.\u00a0 Turquoise.\u00a0 The page needed something more than just the greens, so in came the turquoise.<\/p>\n<p>The revised prompt: pick a color, or two, and have it or them be the dominant on the page.<\/p>\n<p>I chose to use greens and turquoise for the background, to color the figures, to accent the doodles,\u00a0and in the Sticky Snippets\u2122 I used to build the frame around the page and the platform the characters are standing on.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-1.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2591\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-yWtBDHQC\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2591\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-1.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-21-1\" width=\"700\" height=\"557\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Because I was working on half a spread and knew I was going to use ink sprays for the background, the first thing I did was mask off the page on the left.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-2.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2592\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-yWtBDHQC\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2592\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-2.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-21-2\" width=\"700\" height=\"532\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My colors: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/paint-dye-and-ink\/dylusions-ink-sprays-by-dyan-reaveley\/dylusions-ink-spray-fresh-lime.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Dylusions Fresh Lime<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/paint-dye-and-ink\/adirondack-color-wash\/adirondack-color-wash-lettuce.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Color Wash Lettuce<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/paint-dye-and-ink\/tim-holtz-distress-spray-stains\/tim-holtz-distress-spray-stains-tumbled-glass.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Tumbled Glass Distress Spray Stain<\/a>.\u00a0 Best of all?\u00a0 White space!\u00a0 I was determined to leave some and like that I actually managed to this week.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-3.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2593\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-yWtBDHQC\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2593\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-3.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-21-3\" width=\"700\" height=\"536\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I mopped up the excess color and then added a spritz of Tumbled Glass Spray Stain because it had gotten too light.\u00a0 So far&#8230; I&#8217;m liking it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-4.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2594\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-yWtBDHQC\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2594\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-4.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-21-4\" width=\"700\" height=\"678\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A couple of spritzes of plain water allowed me to ghost the dots and gain some much needed texture.\u00a0 Spritz the water, allow it to sit on the page for about 30 to 45 seconds (resist the urge to play with it), then use paper towel to pick up the water.\u00a0 Just lay the paper towel on the surface, press with your hands to help absorb the water, and then pick it up.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t scrub or wipe up the water like you would if you were cleaning a surface by sweeping the paper towel across it.\u00a0 Just press and lift.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-5.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2595\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-yWtBDHQC\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2595\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-5.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-21-5\" width=\"700\" height=\"528\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I wanted more texture, this time with color, so I unscrewed the mister top\/pickup tube combo from the bottles and shook the end at the page for drops of color.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-6.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2596\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-yWtBDHQC\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2596\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-6.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-21-6\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is the sheet of Sticky Snippets\u2122 that I used.\u00a0 It&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/rubber-stamps-and-paper-art-supplies\/joggles-sticky-snippets\/joggles-sticky-snippets-extra-long-rectangles-57743.htm\" target=\"_blank\">#57743, the Extra Long Rectangles<\/a>.\u00a0 You&#8217;ll see in a moment that I cut my strip\u00a0in half, leaving pieces measuring 1\/2&#8243; x 8 1\/4&#8243;.\u00a0 I wanted skinnier strips for some of the border.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-7.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2597\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-yWtBDHQC\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2597\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-7.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-21-7\" width=\"700\" height=\"700\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To build the platform I used more strips that I&#8217;d cut, changing sizes to keep the look interesting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-8.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2598\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-yWtBDHQC\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2598\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-8.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-21-8\" width=\"700\" height=\"579\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finished.\u00a0 The borders and platform are done.\u00a0 Or so I think&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-9.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2599\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-yWtBDHQC\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2599\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-9.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-21-9\" width=\"700\" height=\"677\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Upon further consideration&#8230; I liked them, but felt they needed some doodles.\u00a0 I used a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/tools-and-supplies\/sharpie-water-based-paint-marker\/sharpie-waterbased-paint-marker-extra-fine-tip-black.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Extra Fine Black Sharpie Water Based Paint Pen<\/a> for everything but the larger dots at the top.\u00a0 I used the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/tools-and-supplies\/sharpie-water-based-paint-marker\/sharpie-waterbased-paint-marker-medium-tip-black.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Medium version of the pen <\/a>there.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-10.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2600\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-yWtBDHQC\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-10.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-21-10\" width=\"700\" height=\"661\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This sheet of Sticky Snippets\u2122 has areas not devoted to labels that can be cut or punched and used.\u00a0 I wanted small dots for the background and used a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/rubber-stamps-and-paper-art-supplies\/paper-punches\/mcgill-1-4-inch-hole-punch-52500.htm\" target=\"_blank\">1\/4&#8243; Hole Punch<\/a>\u00a0to make them.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-11.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2601\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-yWtBDHQC\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2601\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-11.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-21-11\" width=\"700\" height=\"610\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Placed them randomly on the background and used the a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/tools-and-supplies\/faber-castell-pitt-pens\/faber-castell-pitt-artist-pen-s-super-fine-tip-black-199.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Superfine Black PITT Pen <\/a>to make loose circles around them.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-12.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2602\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-yWtBDHQC\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2602\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-12.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-21-12\" width=\"700\" height=\"647\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The background still felt as though it needed something, so\u00a0I used the\u00a0Superfine PITT Pen to make small circles.\u00a0 They&#8217;re quite dense at the top of the page, but as you move downward, I put more space between them for a sparse look.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-13.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2603\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-yWtBDHQC\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2603\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-13.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-21-13\" width=\"700\" height=\"566\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I wanted to use one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/rubber-stamps-and-paper-art-supplies\/rubber-stamps\/joggles-bloobel-cling-mounted-rubber-stamps\" target=\"_blank\">Bloobel<\/a> birds and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/rubber-stamps-and-paper-art-supplies\/rubber-stamps\/joggles-bloobel-cling-mounted-rubber-stamps\/joggles-bloobel-cling-mounted-rubber-stamp-seemore-good-56794.htm\" target=\"_blank\">SeeMore Good <\/a>and knew the bird was going to be a\u00a0lot shorter, so built an elevated perch for him.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-14.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2604\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-yWtBDHQC\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2604\" src=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2016-aja-week-21-14.jpg\" alt=\"2016-aja-week-21-14\" width=\"700\" height=\"737\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I ended up using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/rubber-stamps-and-paper-art-supplies\/rubber-stamps\/joggles-bloobel-cling-mounted-rubber-stamps\/joggles-bloobel-cling-mounted-rubber-stamp-potato-head-56797.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Potato Head<\/a>\u00a0along with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/rubber-stamps-and-paper-art-supplies\/rubber-stamps\/joggles-bloobel-cling-mounted-rubber-stamps\/joggles-bloobel-cling-mounted-rubber-stamp-seemore-good-56794.htm\" target=\"_blank\">SeeMore Good<\/a>\u00a0and think they make a great pair of friends.\u00a0 If you look closely at the circles I drew with the PITT Pen you&#8217;ll see that they&#8217;re now turquoise colored inside.\u00a0 I did that with an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/tools-and-supplies\/gelly-roll-pens\/gelly-roll-metallic-pen-green-38921.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Green Metallic Gelly Roll Pen<\/a>.\u00a0 I know, I know&#8230; it&#8217;s a little confusing.\u00a0\u00a0The color is turquoise and the name of the pen is named Green.<\/p>\n<p>I also added additional Sticky Snippets\u2122, cutting the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joggles.com\/rubber-stamps-and-paper-art-supplies\/joggles-sticky-snippets\/joggles-sticky-snippets-medium-circles-57740.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Medium Circles<\/a>\u00a0roughly in half and applying three of them as a bit of a pedestal for SeeMore to stand on.\u00a0 The black &#8220;friends&#8221;
