It’s Wednesday and time for a brand new MidWeek Muse video tutorial. Today I’m creating ATBs, or Artist Trading Blocks, which I think of as a 3D form of art journaling.<\/p>\n
Most often I work in two dimensions, typically in an art journal or on some other flat surface. Artist Trading Blocks are essentially cubes, with six sides to work on. That means there are all kinds of ways to be creative as you add color, images, and other bits to the sides.<\/p>\n
One of the things you’ll hear me say a couple of times is about how I place the images on the sides, to invite the viewer to turn the piece and see what’s around the corner. I find ATBs to be quite viewer interactive, which is a fun change that allows me to think in a different fashion as I create. By wrapping images around corners, you cause the person admiring the piece to look around to the next side, discovering what’s next.<\/p>\n
