Virginia is back today with another of her wonderful cards.\u00a0 What I admire most about her work is the unusual way she combines imagery.\u00a0 Look at the photo of the finished card: it would never have occurred to me to use Edgar’s legs and feet as the flower stems and then hide him in there, posing as a flower.\u00a0 How cool is that??<\/p>\n

If you are not in need of a card, consider using Edgar and his flowers (that’s our Doodle Flower #2 stamp) as the focal element of a journal page.\u00a0 Or put them on a small canvas and hang in a child’s room.\u00a0 The options are many and varied.<\/p>\n

Here’s Virginia’s explanation of how to create this card…<\/p>\n

Look Who’s Hiding
\nThis is just a quick card using only 2 stamps.<\/p>\n

\"number1\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Supplies:
\n2 sheets of 8 1\/2 x 11 White Card Stock
\n1 sheet each of AstroBrights paper in Yellow, Green, Pink and Orange
\nJoggles Stamps The Bird Edgar<\/a> and Doodle Flower #2<\/a>
\nStazOn Black Ink Pad<\/a>
\nColored Pencils<\/a>
\nPitt Pen<\/a>
\nClear Glue
\nScoreTape<\/a>, Double Sided Transfer Tape or White Glue
\nFoam Tape<\/a>
\nClear or White Glitter<\/a>
\nLiquid Pearls<\/a>
\nEmbossing Plates (optional)
\nCraft Foam Sheet and Stylus (optional)<\/p>\n

\"number2\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Score and Fold the White Card Stock in half to make a 5 1\/2 x 8 1\/2 card. I like working on a large canvas.\u00a0\u00a0 Cut random wave strips from the AstroBright Papers, making them approximately 1 1\/2 to 2 inches wide.<\/p>\n

\"number3\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I used Sizzix Embossing Plates to add texture to the Green and Orange pieces. But this is totally optional. You can choose to leave them plain or texture using another method.\u00a0 Layer the pieces on the card and attach using Glue, Transfer Tape or ScorTape.<\/p>\n

\"number4\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Set the Card aside, we\u2019re going to work on the \u201cEmbellishments\u201d.<\/p>\n

On the remaining sheet of White Card Stock stamp out:<\/p>\n

4 Images of Joggles Doodle Flower #2.
\n2 Full Images of The Bird Edgar
\n2 Images of The Bird Edgar\u2019s Legs only. With a Pitt Pen extend one of the Leg Images.<\/p>\n

You will be using 1 Full Image of The Bird Edgar for the Card. The second Full Image you will only be using the Wing and Leg portions.<\/p>\n

Color your Images.<\/p>\n

Cut out the Images.<\/p>\n

Optional: Add Dimension using the Craft Foam Sheet and Stylus if you desire. I tend to add dimension to EVERYTHING!!!… To do so, lay the image face side down on the Craft Foam and using the Stylus make circular motions on the back of the image using medium pressure until you have achieved the result you\u2019re looking for. For the Flowers I puffed out the center of the Flower as I described above. Then with the image face side up I gave the petals their dimension by placing the stylus at the end of the petals and \u201cpulling\u201d the stylus toward the center. This will cause the petals to flip up.<\/p>\n

Using a dab of glue attach the Leg\/Stems to 3 of the Flowers.<\/p>\n

To the 4th Flower attach The Bird Edgar using Foam Tape.<\/p>\n

Attach the Wing to The Bird Edgar with just a dab of glue at the front of the Wing only. (you want it to stand out a bit)<\/p>\n

Using Clear Glue add Glitter to the Wing, Tail and a bit on the Breast Area of Edgar<\/p>\n

Using Liquid Pearls make Dots on the Flower Centers. I used a Pink, Purple and Green.<\/p>\n

Allow to dry before attaching to the Card or you can attach the Flowers before adding the Liquid Pearls.<\/p>\n

Decide where you want to place the Flowers. Do not attach yet. Using a pencil, mark areas where you can write out the text. Set aside the Flowers. Lightly write your text then go over it with a Pitt Pen. Erase any pencils marks that are showing. Place Foam Tape on the backs of the Flowers and a dab of glue on the foot. Attach to the Card and you\u2019re finished!!!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
