In the works for months and months, the fruit of my labor culminates today as I announce our newest products – shrines!
Made from Masonite, we’ve got all kinds of shapes, styles, and sizes. Want wings? Butterfly or angel style? We’ve got them. How about a plain shrine? We have them in 3″ x 5″ and 4″ x 6″ sizes. Add a little pizzazz with the footed versions of those two. Or, how about one shaped like a castle? Or with a burst of rays at the top? Even better, make a fully functional Grandmother style clock with our Double Clock Shrine kit.
Think of them as a 3D canvas and then explore the possibilities with paint, paper, inks, pastes and gels… you name it. They’re a limitless means for creative exploration. All of these shrines are sized to be useful, with the smallest still measuring a hearty 3″ x 5″. The Double Clock is the largest and measure a full 12″ tall. Home décor, gifts of all kinds, or create something special for a meaningful event like graduation, Sweet Sixteen birthday, an anniversary, or to commemorate a special trip. Vacation season is nearly upon us!
As always, I can’t take all of the credit for what you’ll see. Margaret designed the Sunburst and Castle ones and Virginia is behind both wings styles and the clock. Several of the finished pieces you see in the video are Virginia’s and Bonnie Irvine chipped in with several too. It always helps to have talented artists to work with. It makes my job a little easier and it’s exciting to collaborate with these awesome women.
Be sure to scroll down under the supplies to see photos of finished shrines. They’re very inspiring!
I hope you enjoy creating with our shrines!

What fabulous projects you guys have created! I do like the clock box!
Thanks Deborah! Virginia did a stellar job designing it. :+)
I just love these! That background with all the texture and color is fabulous! I think I’m going to be spending some money…
Thanks Gayle!
FABULOUS! Can’t wait to play with all of them.
On the one with the Sandra Evertson heart thing, what was used to “paint” the box, and what is the clear stuff that the heart is “swimming” in?
Hey Kerri,
It was one of the Pebeo Prisme colors. I’m out of town and don’t have access to my stuff so can’t say for sure which, but it was one of the browns. The background that’s clear is a layer of a layer of Ice Resin. I poured it into the shrine, then placed the heart in it, then let it cure.
Thank you… It looks really great. I might have to get me some of those Prisme colors if that is the result you can achieve. This would be a good project to get my ice resin on!
Also… how did you get the butterfly pattern onto the wings?
Hi Kerri,
To start, I traced the wings onto paper….Then I drew the pattern onto the paper…I used sewing tracing paper to transfer the pattern onto the wings…but if you’re confident you could just draw right onto the wings with a pencil.
I used a fine tip glue applicator to “draw” the black lines and applied the black glitter….then continued filling in the sections with other colors of glitter….Be sure to allow the glue to dry between each color application or you will get a mixture of colors.
I hope this explains it well enough….if not, just let me know and I’ll try to give you more info if I can.
Have fun,
Virginia
Wow… pretty laborious, but the beautiful results cannot be denied!!
I think you hit a home run with these. Awesome, and the prices are great! Can’t wait for follow-up videos on the other shrine samples.
Thank you Robin!
Love, love, love the clocks. They are so darn cute!!
Thanks much Patricia
Are the clocks working clocks? Would love to see a video of how they were made. They are fantastic!!
Yes, they are a working clock. You need to add a mechanism to make that happen. There is a hole in the circular face so you can add it.
Wow! I love these but I have so many questions swirling around in my head. I would love to make something like that gold heart and flame. How is that background done??? Does the butterfly come with the pattern on the wings? They are just so beautiful, I want to make them all!
Hi Cyn,
The background on the Medium Shallow Shrine sample was done with one of the brown Pebeo Prisme colors. I don’t have access to my supplies at the moment so can’t say which one, I’m sorry. No, the Butterfly Shrine dos not come with the pattern on the wings. If you find a photo of a butterfly you can enlarge it to roughly the correct size, then trace the outline of the segments onto the shrine.

Love the boxes, and the technique showed in the video has given me some ideas. Which Lindy’s colours did you use on the dark background? I just think it is a fabulous colour combination.
Thanks Anita. :+)
Off the top of my head I don’t remember what Lindy’s colors I used, I’m sorry.
As I watch that portion of the video, it looks like Grab A Guy Gold, Hi Maintenance Magenta, and either Delphinium Turquoise or Sassy Sapphire.
Barb
Thank you, Barb.
I am gonna go hungry next week and it’s all your fault — cuz now I gotta buy some of these shrines and products to glitz ’em up! -LOL. Seriously, these are fabulous and I see a bazillion possibilities! I think I would rather play with this stuff than eat! Hahaha.
Thanks Julia!
I’m looking forward to seeing what you create!
Barb
OMGosh!!! Love the clocks, especially the last one, will there be a tutorial/video on how to recreate that one…please?
Thanks Sherry. No, I’m afraid there will not be a tutorial about how Virginia created the clocks. They were one-off projects she created.
I always love your videos, and as usual this one is particularly inspiring. When I first saw the shrines, I thought wow, I wouldn’t be able to create anything like that, but with your great tips, now I am excited to play. I love all the shapes. I’m going to start with something simple, but I would really like to graduate to the clocks as well. Do you know where would be the best place to get clock works for those?
Thanks Susie!
I have the clock mechanisms on order and hope they’ll be here by the end of the week.
