I will confess to initially not buying into the planner movement. There, I said it.
I will also now confess to being a convert to the planner movement. I’m in!
Why the change of mind? Recently I attended the National Stationary Show and got to see planners up close; in person, and in use There were multiple options offered by multiple companies; all well done and all nice systems. After checking out the options, twice each, I decided on the Happy Planner, which is part of Me And My Big Ideas Create 365 line.
I like the idea of combining a planner with memory keeping. A lot. I will confess to never really participating memory keeping. I’m full of revelations today, but there you go. I take the occasional photo, but mostly they just live on my phone or on a memory card.
It would be nice to have some record of all of the stuff I do on a daily basis, plus birthdays, holidays, the trips I take to trade shows and the occasional vacation. I never considered that I had fodder for memory keeping, but after talking with Amanda Zampelli, who is an expert planner keeper and the Social Media coordinator for mambi (Me And My Big Ideas), I’m convinced that I do. Amanda was manning the booth at the show and had a couple of her planners there that Margaret and I spent a long time looking at and admiring. And yes, I said planners – plural. Amanda, and a lot of other folks, keep multiple planners!
I am an art journaler. That comes as no surprise to most of you, so not really a revelation, but it’s pertinent to this discussion since my intent is to combine art journaling with the aforementioned planner and memory keeping. Why? Because I like to walk my own path and because I love art journaling and have a boat load of supplies and techniques that will mesh perfectly with the planner.
So that’s my intention: Art journaling, memory keeping, and the planner thing all combined, using one of mambi’s Create 365 Happy Planners™.
New this year is a larger style with pages measuring 8.5″ x 11″. The original classic size is, and continues to be, 7.75″ x 9.5″ and there are many beautiful cover options available. In the video you’ll see me work a little with one that has gorgeous peonies on the cover, but most of what you’ll see is me working in the larger version. As I said earlier, many people keep two or more. For now I’ll stick to one, but if you have fodder for more than that, go for it!
In today’s video I’ll introduce you to the planners and accessories and show you how I intend to use mine. Today is June 15th and the timing is perfect since the planners span an 18 month period, beginning on July 1. As you’ll also see I’m actually including things from June. My oldest grandson’s birthday is in June and I want to include it for this year too, plus I’m attending a trade show in June that I want to document. Fodder, fodder, everywhere! Who knew?

I always just remove ONe strip of the photo so you can lay the part that doesnt remove yet and position it and then stick the one side down. Then you can remove the other strips. My way of getting it perfect most of the time.
This really does look like fun! I sure hope they start to make some snap in pages out of mixed media paper! What glue did you use on the back of your stamped images?
I used a Xyron. I received one as a gift a couple of months ago and have actually begun to use it!
I’m thinking of getting one too – which size is yours the 1.5inch or wider?
OK so how perfect can today’s post be. I decided yesterday all days were mushing together and I want a combo log/calendar. The art Genies and Joggles friends heard my wish /whine greeted me this am w this wonderous project/adventure. I’m ready to jump in the giant sandbox to play.
Wish me luck and do send me happy vibes!
ANOTHER wonderous discovery by YOU. Thanks for sharing this delightful Planner. It certainly is eye-catching and so many options for keeping track AND keeping UP with life! And, oh my, but how nifty is the binder itself – doing away with the 3-ring type closures. Thanks for introducing another new item.
I am not for planners Barb but some great idea’s that you’ve come up with. My schedule changes so much I wouldn’t have any creative space to work with lol. I do think it’s awesome that your husbands birthday is July 24th it’s a great day for sure because I was also born on that day. It’s not often I find someone that has the same birthday. lol
