Evolon is not a new product, but is fairly recent in the paint, ink, printmaking, and mixed media creative arenas. If there previously was a US distributor I was unable to figure out who they were. That all changed a few weeks ago and now that I have a reliable source for Evolon, I expect it to be a regular product on the website. And in my studio.
What can you do with Evolon?
The quicker answer might be what you can’t do with it. Evolon accepts paint, ink sprays (including glimmer ones like Starburst Sprays), pens and markers. In the video you’ll see test sheets I created for a number of different products and how they work on Evolon. It’s paper-like in many ways though the surface is not super smooth; it feels almost like suede.
Evolon doesn’t ravel when cut, so you can add decorative edges and they’ll continue to hold the pattern. You can easily stitch through the product and it would be great as book pages, would look great as a spine wrap, or could even be used to add extra support when stitching a binding.
We’re offering Evolon with a 20% introductory special discount so you can give it a try. I think you’re going to like the product and the things you can do with it!

That looks really cool. Have you tried to sew through it?
I haven’t this time, but know it can be done. It’s not as thick as Peltex, so it should be a breeze in comparison.
Great video, as usual, and now I have to break my “do not buy” resolution once again! Cool stuff!
Perfect for making hand made books as cover material. I have something called Kraft tex and I think it’s similar only the Kraft tex is thicker and I can see where the thinner material would be helpful in some cases. I have to get some soon. All spent out for this month but it’s on the list.
KrafTex isn’t the same as Evolon. I can tear it while Evolon can’t be torn. Plus Evolon is made from polyester and nylon while KrafTex is actually paper. So perhaps similar uses, but not similar products. :+)
Good day…
Can this be used with a cutting machine ? Thanks
I would imagine so though I don’t have one and have not tried.
Since Evolon is a spunbond fabric, can it be heat stressed, similar to Tyvek?
Maybe… I’m not sure what the melt temperature is, but did try my Ranger Heat It Craft Tool and it didn’t affect the Evolon. Maybe one that gets hotter would, or perhaps a paint stripper like the Milwaukee tool. Be sure to have adequate ventilation if you try.
