Teresa’s Victorian Shrine
Hello – Teresa here, with another project using the fabulous Joggles Shrines. Last time I used one of these, I created a riotous mixture of colour and bling – this time I have a very subdued project! I was inspired by Victorian memorial keepsakes, and have created something along those lines.
Supplies:
Joggles Shrine – Plain Small [57304]
Frank Morrow Upaint Metal Stamping – Scroll
Giftsland Lokta Paper Assortment – Florals
Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink – Pebble, Metallic Mixative – Copper
Idea-ology by Tim Holtz – [TH93555] Paper Dolls
Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad – Vintage Photo
Black Gesso Pebeo, DecoArt, Dina Wakley
All Purpose Glue, Hot Glue Gun
Scraps of foam board or 3d foam pads
Instructions:
I assembled the shrine using a strong all purpose glue and once set, painted the outside with black gesso. I had already decided to leave the inside in it’s natural state as the dark brown colour toned with the products I was using. I then cut the Lokta paper to size, to line the inside back panel and go around the outside of the shrine.
I used the Vintage Photo Distress Ink to add warmth and depth to the papers and glued in place.
The metalware I had chosen to use needed a colour change too. Much as I love the steel grey colour, I wanted a more sepia tone so used Alcohol Inks in Pebble and Copper to add warmth.
Originally I intended to stick the Paper Dolls image to the inside back panel directly but it looked to flat, so I used some scraps of foam board to create a little ‘block’ to fit behind the cut out and allow it to stand proud of the panel. You could do the same with 3d foam pads, building them up to the required depth.
I needed some strong glue for the Metal Stamping and Word Band so used my hot glue gun.
I hope that you have enjoyed this project from me today, it’s another quick and easy one! Thank you so much for joining me, please feel free to leave a comment below.
