DT Post – Kim Schofield’s Tunnel Book
June 16, 2017

Hi everyone and welcome to today’s Joggles post! Kim here with you today and I’m sharing a project using the super fun Joggles Tunnel Books. Tunnel Books are available in several sizes and with different openings, such as circles, hearts, and squares. (and they’re on sale!) Tunnel Books are a great option for creating scenes and the heavy chipboard pages are perfect for paint, paper, or any other medium.

When creating my book, I opted for covering the pages with papers from Graphic 45 and using elements from the papers to collage my cover and inside page design elements. I also grabbed some Joggles Collage sheets, which worked perfectly with the Graphic 45 designs. I’ve created a video that takes you through my design process. Photos of each of my pages are shown below, along with a supply list.

Enjoy!

Supplies:

Joggles 6 x 6 inch Tunnel Book With Square Tunnel
Tim Holtz /Tonic Studio NonStick Micro Serrated Scissors – 7 inch
Joggles Collage Sheets – Deep in the Forest 2, Watercolor Beetles 1
Dina Wakley Media – Gel Medium
Papers by Graphic 45
Joggles Cling Mounted Rubber Stamp – Nonsense Latin Text
Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad – Gathered Twigs
Liquid Adhesive such as Aleene’s Super Thick Tacky Glue
Inkssentials Paper Creaser – 6 inch
X-Acto Knife
Foam tape or Scrapbook Adhesives 3D Self-Adhesive Foam Squares – .5 x .5 inches

Other: cream card stock; flat back pearls; ephemera and twill tape; hole punch; paint brush; pencil

My cover was created using elements from a Graphic 45 paper pad along with some odds and ends from my stash. I also created my own paper by using a Joggles Latin Nonsense Text stamp and cream cardstock.

This is what my book looks like when the cover is opened. I am in love with those mushrooms and lady bug, each from a Joggles Collage sheet.

Page two…

Page three…getting closer to my quote in the center of the aperture.

Page four – more fun mushrooms from the Deep in the Forest 2 collage Sheet!

Page 5… layers and layers

And this is my final page of the book. The last page is simply a piece of designer cardstock with the quote in the middle.

Absolutely gorgeous! The paper is to die for, but your manipulation of it is spot-on. Love Joggles’ tunnel books: you have captured the very essence of perfection with yours. Thank you for sharing photos and the video tutorial. I’m sure lots of us will attempt to copy your fabulous book! 🙂

Excellent presentation!!! Photos AND video, how neat is that!!

In the beginning you used baby wipe for your base coat. Never saw that before. Why did you use that in place of regular brush technique?

Come back soon!!! Nice to see something created that actually is a creation rather than just seeing how messy one can get and call it art.

Hi Dolores, Thank you so much for your sweet comments. I’m glad you enjoyed my project!

With regards tot the Distress Paints. I find that they when using Distress Paints vs. acrylic paints that the coverage can be streaky. Using a baby wipe removes the streaks and allows for better overall coverage. This is not necessarily true of acrylic paints where a brush would provide good coverage.

This gorgeous paper you used appears to be on the hard to find list. I wonder if they are going to discontinue it. Dumb if they do.

Thanks for taking the time to get back to me.

Dolores

Delightful project Kim! This is one of my favorite G 45 papers……does Joggles carry it? So sorry Delores is having a hard time finding it. I still have the 12 x 12 pads in stock.
