Today’s MidWeek Muse video is one I’m particularly excited about because it incorporates the use of my Wonky Houses Skinny Minny Mask in an unusual way. Rather than spritzing through the stencil, or over the mask, I’m using both parts and creating mixed media house. Wonky mixed media houses in fact!
Using all kinds of scrapbooking papers, along with a host of other goodies, I’ll show you how to use the stencil to create colorful houses and them how to make the extra special with the addition of trim and other bits of fun, plus some special paperclay hearts adorned with Distress Glitter. Add in some well-placed scribbles with a PITT pen and a dab of charcoal pencil to create the illusion of depth, and you end up with houses that I think are pretty special.
Use them as is to adorn your journal pages, stick one on the front of a card, or incorporate them into a mixed media collage – the sky is the limit. Or, do as I did and create a 4 panel display piece to showcase them on. I have mine perched on top of a beat up set of drawers and it looks great!
The video is long since I’m demoing a lot of techniques and walking you through the entire project from beginning to end, including how to make the 4 panel display piece, but I think you’ll find it worth watching. If you are not interested in creating the 4 panel display you need only watch through the 41 minute mark. That will give you everything you need to create the houses.
