I’m always on the lookout for interesting imagery; stuff that’s fodder for journals, tags, canvases, ATCs, etc. These napkins work well for all of those types of projects in addition to home décor items.
In this video I’m demoing the basics of using them along with some simple pages created in the process. About the only important thing to know is that they’re 3-ply, so you have to be sure you remove both of the ones under the printed layer at the top. Once you do that, it’s time to play!

You always explain things so well. The napkins are screaming at me to try this. Very loud little suckers!
So pretty! Thanks for sharing!
Love working with napkins! love that little birdie
Have always used Mod Podge – is there a noticeable difference when using Gel Medium?
Thanks!!
Mod Podge is fine too. I have Gel Medium on my workbench all of the time, so it’s what I reach for,
I have played with this technique before and loved it. Great way to make guy cards! I have an idea if there is a possibility of doing it- would it work for you to make sets of napkins by pulling one napkin or two from each different design combining them in one set? I don’t think I would use all of the same designs in a package but would if there was more variety. Just an idea. Thanks barb for sharing your cool uses of various products.
What is the brush you use to apply the gel medium? Thank you.
It’s just an old-ish 1″ flat brush that’s not suitable for painting with any longer. It’s one I use with Gel Medium or Gesso.
