With the release of the last 6 colors in the Dylusions Paint line I decided it was high time I made what essentially is a color card, but one on steroids.
In today’s video you’ll see me arrange colors into warm and cools, plus play with analogous, monochromatic, and complemenatary color schemes. I’m also working a bit with the 6 new colors, trying various combinations and playing to see what I like.
Color can be a bit scary at time since the wrong combination can lead to… mud and yuck. I’ll talk a little about how to avoid that ugliness and some sure-fire combinations that will be the antithesis of mud and yuck!

Hi Barb! Thanks for the color theory information you have here. Just great. I have to ask if using black, gray, and white in any medium does the same blending. Or is this mainly for paints of this nature? I am thinking of inks or stains or sprays etc. always learning!
Hi Dottie,
The basics of color theory apply to all types of products, but adding white, black, or grey to something like gel medium will not have the same effect since it’s colorless.
But yes, inks and sprays can be tinted, toned, or shaded with white, grey, or black.
Thank you Barbara that really made sense 🙂 xx
You’re welcome. I’m glad it was helpful!
