Fall For Fabulous Alcohol Inked Pumpkins!
      September 19, 2018

The calendar hasn’t quite turned to Autumn, but I have a marvelous fall themed project for you today.   Pumpkins!  Galvanized ones you can color using Alcohol Ink, then spray a protective coating on.  Given the variety of Alcohol Ink colors, you can create your version is just about any palette that you like.  I ended up with three different color ways: traditional orange/terra cotta, turquoise with deep purple accents, and one that’s bright pinks.

The video will show you how and believe me when I say… it’s simple!

      Supplies For This Video:

      Galvanized Pumpkins

Alcohol Inks, Ink Applicator, and Felts

      Krylon Kamar Varnish

Krylon UV Resistant Clear Gloss Finish

Hi Karen – I think it was either Valencia or Sunset Orange, Dandelion, and the Copper Metallic Mixative. The turquoise one was Clover, Mermaid, and Amethyst. Have fun!

This great pumpkin project has inspired me to try alcohol inks! I love the orange pumpkin. A couple of quick questions – You listed the orange colors you used. What order did you apply the colors in? And what green colors did you use for the green leaves? I am assuming you painted the leaves first and sprayed them with the fixative sprays. Then bent the leaves up and painted the pumpkin second and then sprayed the pumpkin with the fixative sprays. Is that correct? Any extra instructions would be very much appreciated! Thank you!!

Hi Sharon – I don’t recall what greens I used, I’m sorry. Probably lettuce since it’s one I reach for often. I did the leaves last, after the colors were on the body of the pumpkin. Everything was sprayed all at once. As far as application order of the oranges, there was no order. I added some of a color, then another, at random.
