Welcome to a creative and exciting Wednesday!
Not only do I have a new video for you (Magenta’s Nuance Dye Powder tips and techniques), I also have an update on the Distress Glitter Dust one from November 25th. You may recall that we sold out of the 2″ and 3″ paper mache stars and the pretty laser cut snowflakes that all looked so fabulous when embellished with Distress Glitter Dust.
I’ve been working on a solution for the last little bit and have some good news. We have received more of the 2″and 3″ paper mache stars and I have a replacement for the original snowflakes. I’m particularly excited about the replacement snowflakes because (drum roll please)… they’re ours! A while ago we purchased a really nifty laser and these snowflakes are the very first product we developed and cut right here at Casa Joggles.
I’m really excited by the snowflakes and all of the creative possibilities they offer. I made them larger than the originals (ours are about 4.25″ tall) and they really make a lovely, Christmasy statement when covered with the Distress Glitter Dust. You can see that video here.

I’m a bit confused as to the difference between the Magenta Nuance Powered Dyes and The Brusho Crystal Color Basics. I realize the Crystal ones actually can leave crystals undissolved but what is the actual difference besides that? Also, I assume I can spray fix the watercolors so I can use acrylic over these products? I have a new series of animal paintings and I really like the idea of using these products for the crystal/creeping it can do. I use acrylics mostly but have a great idea how to use these- just not sure what the real difference is. I apologize for not “getting it” after watching both videos twice. I don’t have much money to spend and would like to try and get the one that would best suit my idea. I know you can’t read my mind so I would not blame you for not getting what I’m talking about!
Thanks for all of your very detailed videos, time and knowledge,
Mo
PS- LOVE the new website!
Hi Mo,
Without getting into the compounds that make up the powders or crystals, there are no major differences that I’m aware of besides colors in each range. Brusho markets the product as watercolor pigments in crystalline form while Nuance and Color Bursts don’t. At least not as far as I know and I can’t say exactly what they’re made from. I have not tried to fix any of the colors but see no reason not to.
Best,
Barb
Thanks Barb!
I am so excited about your new store and, especially, your blog! I always wondered why you didn’t have a blog – as your art is always so gorgeous and amazing. I have always loved your store because not only do you carry popular items – you also carry unique items. The store site looks amazing and is quite easy to maneuver! I always look forward to Wednesdays and a new tutorial – your email is always the first to be opened on Wednesdays and Sundays! Congratulations – and woo hoo!
