It’s Wednesday and time for today’s MidWeek Muse video where we’re bordering on the edge of… well, all kinds of things. Borders are frequent elements in my journal pages and other creations. Whether they’re light and airy marks or thick frames, I think borders add a nice finishing touch, and are a technique that I employ often.
In the video we’ll start small, using a simple dot then progress to checkerboards and more; even mirroring portions, to create intricate designs. You’ll see that borders which look really complex are often nothing more than a bunch of smaller elements, layered in a way to plump out the design and make it really eye catching.
Borders can be linear or not. They can be thick or thin. They can be created from shapes strung together; attached to each other or not.
Borders can be anything at all and that’s what I hope you’ll take from the video. Feel free to try anything that you can think of. Occasionally you’ll try something and discover you don’t like it. From those you’ll learn what to avoid, so there is no wasted time as far as I’m concerned.
