Sizzix was kind enough to put me in touch with Kelly when I asked for a talented cardmaker who could do some creative imagining for us.  When I asked her if she could combine Tim’s Picture Show Die with the 2024 Vault Halloween releases, she said “sure” and proceeded to do just that.  Her Wicked Picture Show card is the first of three I’ll share with you.  Keep in mind that if you wish, the steps can be followed to create anything… a journal page, wood panel, or a card as she did.  Take Kelly’s ideas and run with them!  Up first, the main photo, then you’ll find Kelly’s description of how she created the project, and finally, additional photos.

Come along for a night full of frights, and scary sights! This 5×7 card features Tim’s Vault Picture Show and Gothic Portraits Dies.

To start, I created a fun spooky background with Alcohol inks. They tend to have a mind of their own, so I just enjoy the process and keep going until I like what I have. Alcohol inks are very forgiving so bust them out and have a play!

Next, I die cut some bats and the crow from Gothic Portraits. I personally used Tim’s Distress black heavy stock because it super black and a little velvety to the touch, but you can use any black card stock. I then cut the picture wheel and photo strip from the same black cardstock. I stamped some cobwebs on the picture wheel then moved on to finding elements for the picture wheel.

Since I have a lot of Halloween stuff I went through my stash and found tons of ephemera I liked and then looked for the parts I wanted to edit so to speak and cut those out as well. Picture Show comes with the dies to cut out all the pieces you can pop back in. If this isn’t your thing, simply cut them out of white or some other colors or patterns you prefer.

The sentiment is from Gothic Portraits and was ink blended with Tim Holtz Villainous Potion Distress Ink. I cut one more out of black cardstock to create a shadow layer.

I adhered everything to the card and used my white gel pen to add some little highlights here and there. Happy Haunting!
