This is the second tag book I made.  You'll notice that unlike the prototype, this one has covers that are wide enough to enclose the entire page, including the little merchandise tags I applied to the edges of them.  I used #8 tags for both of the books and they measure 6 1/4" x 3 1/8".  For this second book I cut the covers 6 1/2" x 4".  Your measurement for the width might vary ever-so-slightly, depending on how you set the merchandise tags on the pages.  If you end up not using the merchandise tags, then your covers will measure about 6 1/2" x 3 1/4".  It's always best to measure the signatures and determine how much larger you want to covers before you cut them.  I like the cover to be slightly larger than the signatures.  If you want your covers to be larger than I like allow for that when you cut them.

You can make these books out of any size tags, so don't feel as though you're limited to the #8 ones.  I have used the big #12 tags which measure 4" x 8" and they make a great book with pages that have more room to play and create on.  All of the tags can be seen here.

You'll probably notice that these are not the covers you saw in the video.  After we finished filming I decided that I wanted something different so made these instead and like them much better.

Inside the book...

...with the signatures opened to the second set in the block.

Here's the finished prototype.  I'm still aggravated that I didn't consider the merchandise tags when I made the covers, but overall think it's a nice little book.  The covers are made from wool felt that I free motion stitched and then cut to size (the wrong size!).

The book opened and laid flat.

And a peek inside.
