!Needlefelted Halloween Pumpkins with Amy Rawson     $38.00

This class is scheduled to begin on October 8, 2009.

Needle felting is a relatively young art form that is gaining popularity as more and more people discover it. It is, essentially, sculpting with wool. The technique is very different from traditional wet-felting methods and is easy to learn. Three-dimensional felted creations are not difficult to achieve and the possibilities are endless. Needle felted figures have a unique look and feel, and can be as simple or complex as you desire.

The Needle Felted Halloween Pumpkins class is suitable for beginners and intermediate students alike. The basic techniques of needle felting will be explained from the ground up for beginners. Building faces is not difficult, but is a technique I've not offered yet in any of my previous classes, so more advanced students will enjoy learning these new skills as well. The class will be divided into three lessons as follows:

The first lesson will cover basic needle felting. This lesson will include a description of and introduction to needle felting techniques, which you'll use to create a simple three-dimensional form out of wool fibers. We'll start by making plain pumpkin shapes (no faces) out of down wool and then we'll cover them with colored wool. Beginners will use this lesson to learn basic techniques and get some practice at needle felting before beginning the pumpkin faces. Intermediate students can use this as a brush-up lesson. These little plain pumpkins make great decorations or party favors!

The second lesson will begin the larger pumpkins with faces. We'll make the basic form in down wool, discuss blending and applying cover wool, and begin to build the face.

The third lesson will finish off the pumpkin faces. You'll learn how to shape noses and mouths, add eyes, and create different expressions (happy, sad, etc.) to bring your pumpkin people to life.

The supply list will be sent to all students one week before the class starts. Once you buy this class you will receive an email order confirmation, but you will not hear from us again until the supply list is sent.

A high speed connection to the internet is recommended for all students.

In order to participate in online classes at joggles you are expected to have basic computer and internet skills. You need to be able to browse the internet, know how to download and save a document to your PC's hard drive, and understand how to open and save email attachments. It is your responsibility to learn these skills before the class begins.

Please be certain you are comfortable with all of these skills. Class fees will not be refunded once the class has begun.
