This is a great introductory class to traditional embroidery stitches with the added flare and dazzle that only seed beads can add. These stitches can be incorporated in any fiber design that you choose, whether it be an already stitched crazy quilted block, a strip pieced pillow top, or an appliquéd art quilt block. A variety of stitches are used in each separate embroidered design, a Base Stitch, a Design Stitch, and an Embellished Stitch. Additional embellishments will also be covered such as adding in buttons, sequins, large beads and charms.

Lesson 1: The class will cover the embroidery basics: suggestions for the design of the fiber base; the stitched embroidered designs; the variety of threads that can be used, the different needles; the seed beads and the other embellishments.

Lesson 2: This class will cover the Base Stitches for each of the embroidered designs, which start with a continuous stitch such as the feather stitch, the chain stitch, the buttonhole stitch, the fern stitch, the herringbone stitch and the outline stitch. I will cover a variety of ways that each of these stitches can be used for a base.

Lesson 3: This class will cover the Design Stitches, which will be added to the Base Stitches. The lazy daisy, the bullion tipped lazy daisy, the fly stitch, the pistol stitch, the French knot, woven star, and the Chinese knot. I will cover a variety of ways that each of these stitches can be used in combination with the Base Stitches. I will also cover additional designs that can be made from the previously learned lessons such as a fan, a butterfly, and a wagon wheel.

Lesson 4: This class will show you how to add in the dazzle with the Embellished Stitches that include the seed beads in a combination of designs. Also included will be suggestions on how to incorporate larger glass beads, a variety of button styles and glass and metal charms.

The supply list will be sent to all students one week before the class starts. Once you buy this class you will receive an email order confirmation, but you will not hear from us again until the supply list is sent.

A high speed connection to the internet is recommended for all students.

In order to participate in online classes at joggles you are expected to have basic computer and internet skills. You need to be able to browse the internet, know how to download and save a document to your PC's hard drive, and understand how to open and save email attachments. It is your responsibility to learn these skills before the class begins.
