Alice seems to be popping up all over these days.

This display of Alice falling down the rabbit hole is made from a photo box that is covered in paper machè for strength. The cover is painted; the tree is made of paper clay as are Alice’s legs. Her skirt is fabric.

The font for the lettering is provided for the short section of the book, ‘Alice in Wonderland’ by Lewis Carroll that is written on the cover.

Open up the box and you see Alice falling down the rabbit hole. The rabbit notices the time and heads for the door. The small table awaits Alice. On the facing ‘page’ is a painted bookcase and a clock and photo that are glued on.

On the top of the box, the rabbit hole is painted and embellished with paper flowers. The sides and back are covered in pre-stitched scrapbook paper with flower buds on it. I added faces to the flowers with a fine marker.

This project covers painting, paperclay, sewing, scrapbooking and even a bit of marionette-ing! It is beautiful as just the box, but the surprise inside makes it ‘wonder’ful!!

Week Three: Painting the walls, floor, bookcase and top. Adding the paper to the outside of the box.

Week Four: Creating Alice and the Alice skirt for the cover.

Week Five: Creating the White Rabbit.

Week Six: Making the table, adding the ‘hinges’ to the door and the closure.

The supply list will be sent to all students one week before the class starts. Once you buy this class you will receive an email order confirmation, but you will not hear from us again until the supply list is sent.

A high speed connection to the internet is recommended for all students.

In order to participate in online classes at joggles you are expected to have basic computer and internet skills. You need to be able to browse the internet, know how to download and save a document to your PC's hard drive, and understand how to open and save email attachments. It is your responsibility to learn these skills before the class begins.

Please be certain you are comfortable with all of these skills. Class fees will not be refunded once the class has begun.
